I guess the paper we had to sign for tired driving is the result of the recent bad accidents we have had, not knowing all the details of them, I guess I''ll leave it alone as I understand. Maybe personal disipline for rest was not used, I don't know.

my question thou, is how many other things in day to day operations effects our resting time ?

Could laying in a bunk room trying to catch sleep with the sound of constant foot traffic over head be a good enviroment for proper rest ??
Could pulling into wessex, half way through your tour of duty, with 6 hours of drive time available, having the out bound lanes three quarters full of both long boxes and sets available, and sitting there four and half hours, waiting for certain dispatcher to do her job ( won't mention name as we all know who it is ) be good enviroment for a restfull day ??

Any other thoughts ?

I think Cleveland has a shoe lady too. She was pretty loud this morning+ woke me up but that's ok cause I needed to get up anyway.

Maybe alot of office people read trucking boards also, and are just trying to get on our goards !!! lol!!!

A noisy bunkroom and bench time in the middle of your 14 will defenatly make for a long night, no doubt. Good thread. ....I don't remember signing anything. Must've been too tired to remember. lol

Some terminals got there's last week, some this week, probably yours next week, or near future. Discribes symptoms of being tired, and not driving when experiencing them

rjjr are you pullin our leg?And of course all Dispatchers are being told to never utter the fraise (where ya been) when a driver pulls in after his expected arrive time.

must be a midwest thing, or else you guys are still in the process of getting yours. These letters are posted in most all terminals around here, and had to be signed by each driver that recieved one

Supposed to be signed + turned in at my yard by today. Mine's at home + I'm in Kansas. Uh-Oh. Think I will just take a break now and worry about it later. That's what they would want me to do.

Good luck gettin out of there, just left after a 17 hr break. But thats ok ,7hrs witing on dispatch to leave with a mt to go550 miles to 089. nothin like a18 hr day. SO MUCH FOR BEING RESTED

I wonder how Big E dispatch would handle it when I call in and say, "I'm tired/have a cold. So I'll just take the day off"? Or if I call in from the road and say, "I'm stopping in a motel as I'm tired and not feeling well"? Based on what we signed, they would have no recourse but to allow it.

Thats right WT, all that paper is a way to cover Big E butt becuase if we had a problem then they could say we signed a paper saying we would stop but didn't. then its byby.

But on the other side of the matter, this paper just makes it a whole lot easier to call off with a perfectly good excuse. And your right SM, sitting around like that does not make for proper rest.

To tired to sign

We at st louis had to sign that sheet of paper. I guess if you actually call central when your tired to take 15 min nap/wont go over to good ya think.
But our yard does have that problem with bid runs getting back late and making city fall behind. Lots of nap taking :soapbox::kicking:

Now I will say in defense of Estes ...... Few years ago now I got real sick well I left home sick went to Denver then Cedar city then from there to Vegas back up to Salt lake after my break all turning on my 10 they sent me to Reno all while I was sick as hell. I passed out halfway down Battle Mtn. I kept it on the road but I was seeing stars and hands went numb so I got it over to winnemica Nv at the J called dispatch told them what happened dropped my set went to the ER and the doc sidelined me for 3 days. I told dispatch what he said they said no problem got a room and sent a guy out of salt lake to get my load. Never had to pay for the room, never heard a peep out of anyone but " Jr wants to know if you are ok " we can say a lot about the bunkrooms but Estes is fair..... in this case anyway

Drivers own pride is what hurts them. You gotta know when to call it a day. Tough ::shit:: if so and so wants this. They have more drivers than you..... you have one life and CDL

well i agree but it one of those "aww it will pass in a day or two" WRONG. I just got sicker going to work. live and learn

I've been there. Most of the time it goes away but one time it kept getting worse and worse. I was amazed by the power of an antibiotic. I thought I was dying. Your in good hands with this outfit as long as you don't try and put the screws to them.

I like there policy about calling off when the weather turns bad..."must attempt run"...ya, I'll attempt to look outside and call and say it is NOT SAFE to run....This trucking company needs a good class action lawsuit on SAFTEY related actions!!!!!! Maybe they will change their tune!!!!
