FedEx Freight | Fedex Announces Expansion Of Fedex Freight Direct

Not that management would ever let RC&Co anywhere near a customer....
No one in their sane mind should ever step one foot into a customer’s house without a body camera running the entire time.

:smiliewhs: When you're trying to pull a skid that is 2K-3K up the slightest incline its basically impossible without help, add that to most flooring loads are not on standard pallets so most of them are either almost to big for the liftgate or way oversized. Then rinse and repeat because its rare if someone orders enough for 1 skid.
What ever happened to the Electric Pallet Jacks, said to be part of the "tools required", for such shipments??

Getting back to the "policy/guidelines" side... I you do an intranet search for "Safe Working Guidelines: Liftgate", you'll find this:

"If a load exceeds the weight or size of the capacity for the liftgate, then the load should not be delivered via liftgate to ensure the safety of our team members.

GENERAL SAFETY POINTS

• Do not allow any load to exceed the rated manufacturer's capacity for the liftgate.

• Prior to use verify the weight capacity and the dimensions of the liftgate. o The standard FedEx Freight maximum weight is 3,000 lbs.

• The standard FedEx Freight maximum dimensions are 48 inches by 56 inches."

"...No part of any load should be allowed to extend over the edges of the Platform"

I know, I know, we do it all the time, but that is beside the point. These are the guidelines.

Beyond the standard length, the price is supposed to increase substantially. Then there is the residential charge, too

They're getting non assisted pallet jacks with a hand brake instead.

we got 2 of the power assist jacks. Nothing electric about them they have a hand brake and another lever that helps you get momentum to get heavier pallets moving. They’re junk.

Yup, we already have them at my center. They are made by Raymond.

I'll stick to the good old fashioned deliveries. Bump the dock then go inside and let the receiver unload the trailer with his forklift.:encouragement:

Great. So, we can set the handbrake in order to catch our breath, half way up the long driveway... Nice. <insert sarcasm>
And I heard that those pallet jacks will have a tool box mounted on them too, so when you have to take doors off, and other home fixtures from the walls or ceilings, you will have the right tools.

The latest intranet "headline" news on Direct, in case you missed it:

FXFD team inducted into the FedEx Enterprise IT Hall of Fame

"The FedEx Freight Direct (FXFD) core team, led by SVPs Ken Frith and Michelle Epps and VP Bonnie Voldeng, was inducted the week of Nov. 4 into the FedEx Enterprise IT Hall of Fame for the outstanding work accomplished by FedEx Freight and FedEx Services team members on the project over the past year."

“In just four months, the team successfully launched FedEx Freight Direct in August to all 173 targeted service centers, reaching 81 percent of nationwide coverage,” Rob’s announcement stated. “To achieve the scale and speed needed for the national rollout, the team transitioned the development approach from ‘build’ to ‘buy’. With a bias toward configuration, the team delivered a breakthrough consumer experience and operational capabilities required to support the e-commerce journey.”

These jerks love patting themselves on the back when one of their half assed completed schemes has the immediate appearance of success, but ignores the 6 extra layers of bullshit it produces.

“Wow, those RFID stickers really stick. Good job, here’s a bonus and recognition.”

“Why can’t those lazy drivers get a 12 skid, 12 BOL shipment confirmed under 5 minutes?”
