Don't know if anyone here as actually gone from Express CDL-A to Freight CDL-A. You'll be better served by asking individual questions about hours, benefits, 401K, etc.
Yes and no. I was hire as a Driver Apprentice. I had little to no experience and I had my CDL with Hazmat etc.. Went through the training and am now driving City, as low man I am doing residential. Its all good I am at the right place. When asked if I would work dock first I said yes but the terminal was short on drivers so I moved to City ASAP.
So apply for dock and driver apprentice it might work out for you too.
