FedEx Freight | FedEx labor provision

'Yes I have worked the dock and I've been an outbound supervisor. My equipment is topnotch. Do union drivers make more than us. Here's what you get in a union. 15% paycut, three year freeze on pension contributions, Eastern pension fund in bankruptcy, Central pension fund insolvent, Pacific pension fund supporting the other two. 1.5% of my gross income confiscated from me and used to support political parties trying to socialize and communize this country, and who believe in murdering unborn children( and some believe in murdering born children) No 401k and I still have to put into my own pension and medical insurance. So tell me again why the union is so great. I'll tell you what Harley, if the union is so great we'll make it 100% voluntary with open shops and we'll see how many join, OK. Unions, ideas so great they must be mandatory!

How the hell do you make $80,000 a year driving a truck for someone else? What part of the country are you in?
I was making 80k before all my union "brothers" voted to give away 15% of that for me. I don't blame you guys at Fed-ex one bit to not want the Teamsters in there.

TEAMSTERS broke from afl cio(SOCIALIST) years ago! I pay $52 a month dues nothing for medical etc CO. senority not job. How is the merger going? HAS BILL DECIDED YET! Read and learn before sounding off!

Just a small point River 17
Dues money is never used for political Pacs. Their is a D.R.I.V.E. fund that does all the funding of the Thieves that run for office. It is a strictly voluntary fund
No they do not hold a gun to your head to sign up. But they will give you a hat. You can deduct it on your taxes along with your dues.

Lots of uninformed people here.
I do not care if you do or do not want the Brotherhood but the right information would clear up questions.
1.5 % gross income is not confiscated from anyone.
Which Eastern fund is bankrupt ?
Central states is not insolvent, they have money in the bank today.
Western states supports NO other funds ( They got lots of $$$$ in bank )
All pension funds are totally separate they do not intermingle
Pacific pension fund ? Never heard of one enlighten me !
Their is a Teamster 401 K plan like yours it is voluntary.
Times are tuff at YRC but all the other crafts seem to be doing quite well
Yes union drivers make more than you. Team drivers with seniority over 120 grand IF they want to work.

I sure hope that post was in response to leemcabee as he doesn't seem to have a clue about what he posted.

Good luck to you all !!

70, 80, 120 ? who cares, I am debt free

Dead on the money Jeff.My old man always told me " It don't matter how much you make boy its how much you get to keep ! " Now at age 45 and with the ever present threat of more and higher taxes I see how right he was once again.Sometimes I wish I could go back in time 20 years and run into to myself and just slap the h$#l out of me !

That don't mean jack.
Not in this day and age.

You do it the way you want, it's your life but I found out that if I don't have anything but utilities going out, I don't have to make much, I don't worry about getting cancelled for the 3rd day this week, I could have worked and threw the extra board guy out in the cold but since I don't have to worry about making alot of money, I don't have to throw my fellow man under a bus so I can pay for the house I couldn't afford when I bought it or the 50k car sitting in the driveway or a woman who thinks she is a princess that has to have all of the above....

The beauty of my life situation is is the fact my wife thinks just like me and my 14 yr daughter wrote an essay for school she got an A on describing the what it does to you to buy things with money you don't have....

Live it the way you want Mr. Ray of sunshine, I bet you are a joy to work with

Well I fell on my face before but I stopped that cycle, it's funny, alot of people think I rub this in their faces when I talk about debt, it's the absolute opposite... you don't see anything I have that is not paid for, I have very basic stuff, a very normal house, very normal practical cars, I do have toys but I saved up to get them and paid for them all with saved up cash money that I earned, I like for others to experience the joy of not worrying about if they get cancelled or an unexpected car repair comes up, be capable of taking a trip anytime you want, just go... not having to worry about how the bills will be paid next week...

Here's the process:
From Dave Ramseys Website
http://www.daveramsey.com/new/baby-steps/

Baby Step 1
$1,000 to start an Emergency Fund
An emergency fund is for those unexpected events in life that you can’t plan for: the loss of a job, an unexpected pregnancy, a faulty car transmission, and the list goes on and on. It’s not a matter of if these events will happen; it’s simply a matter of when they will happen. Learn more

Baby Step 2
Pay off all debt using the Debt Snowball
List your debts, excluding the house, in order. The smallest balance should be your number one priority. Don’t worry about interest rates unless two debts have similar payoffs. If that’s the case, then list the higher interest rate debt first. Learn more

Baby Step 3
3 to 6 months of expenses in savings
Once you complete the first two baby steps, you will have built serious momentum. But don’t start throwing all your “extra” money into investments quite yet. It’s time to build your full emergency fund. Learn more

Baby Step 4
Invest 15% of household income into Roth IRAs and pre-tax retirement
When you reach this step, you’ll have no payments—except the house—and a fully funded emergency fund. Now it’s time to get serious about building wealth. Learn more

Baby Step 5
College funding for children
By this point, you should have already started Baby Step 4—investing 15% of your income—before saving for college. Whether you are saving for you or your child to go to college, you need to start now. Learn more

Baby Step 6
Pay off home early
Now it’s time to begin chunking all of your extra money toward the mortgage. You are getting closer to realizing the dream of a life with no house payments. Learn more

Baby Step 7
Build wealth and give!
It’s time to build wealth and give like never before. Leave an inheritance for future generations, and bless others now with your excess. It's really the only way to live! Learn more

I am proud to say I am on Baby Step 7!
