Im curious how many reships follow this rule?
The reships are kicking drivers out so quick now, some linehaul drivers are working 8,9 to 10 hours a day.
The rule is: First driver in has to leave first, which is usually the high senority driver. If the top seniority driver leaves 10 min. ahead of the second senority driver and arrives 10 min. at the reship ahead of the second driver, the first driver in has to leave first. He may only work an 9 hour day while the less senority driver gets to stay and work 12 hrs. It sure seems like a big pay cut for the senior driver. Why wouldnt they let the senior driver decide if he wants to stay or go? I also know not all reships follow this rule, some reships let the drivers decide who's gonna leave, by senority. If the senior man wants to stay and make some money, he stays and the lower senior driver has to leave or pass it on if he can. Maybe Im not seeing the big picture and someone could enlighten me on why they keep this rule.

If their are multiple drivers from your barn going to the same reship, just decide who wants to stay and who wants to go 1st, and when you get their just let them go past you and get to the greeter shack 1st. Dont tell other drivers what you and your co-drivers are doing. It's nobody elese business, and just stay under the radar....

Well at our terminal their bringing those line haul driver's in 3 hours before his departure time and letting them work the dock. What that does is take away work from the guys that work 1030 and 0800 starts. I'm guessing 70-80k is not enough?? yet the day guy's stuggle to get their hours..

the way we been doing it out here on the left coast is by seniority. Senior man picks the vias and if there is no vias he can pass on going home.

Seniority in/out and take/pass on via's where I run. This is the only way to do it IMO. If I wanna get there early and make money I can without burning anyone. If I wanna wait for my assigned truck or am running a little late my loads can be passed down and I don't get screwed. First in first out is a joke - if you have a mechanical problem or you take it easy on bad roads it punishes you for doing the proper thing.

One of the re-ships we run does it the best way I've heard of - we send a boat load of drivers there and it's seniority based but any driver can leave whenever they want since most of the senior drivers stay till the end anyway. The senior drivers just want certain loads but any driver can leave whenever they feel like it.

Senority doesnt matter

At XCW, they stick to the rules, they know who gets their first and they have to leave first. Senority doesnt mean anything. The royal palace (Ann Arbor) says all reships work this way, but they dont. Almost all go by senority except XCW. Its really causing a lot of problems with the senority guys, their not making any money while the low senority guys get to stay and work all they want.

Last year they changed Company Policy from 1st in 1st out to Seniority choice . Several times this has came into play with me and I mentioned it to a FOM and things straightened out.

Imagine that - the three worst re-ships I've ever been to go by first in first out.. XMI, XNW, and XCW - they all suck and the leadership at all three sucks.. They'll write you up for smoking or not reporting to your sector but they reward idiots for running down the road with a flat tire.. I genuinely feel lucky to run a re-ship that's so laid back it doesn't feel like Con-way and seniority in/out is the rule no matter what even though I'm one of the last drivers on the run.. For obvious reasons, I'll be heading back next year..

I go to the same place you do, and I am "forced" to leave first.......if I get there first, not given any option. It's yet another case of different rules for different drivers.

We have some at our barn that will play the 1st in 1st out when it benefits them then do the seniority thing when it benefits them. They also claim to pee in bottles when driving to different FAC's to get there first when senior guys bring up seniority and they say they beat them in so they get 1st in 1st out. I wonder how safe it is to pee in a bottle while driving just to beat a senior man in the gate. How sanitary is it? How many drivers at Conway do this to save time? ICK!

Why the rule?

Believe me the rule hasnt changed, its still first in first out. Most reships just dont follow the stupid rule. Ann Arbor has been called numerous times about this. Its funny, they cant give a reason why this rule is place except its easier for the reships to go by this. It would be too hard to ask the senior driver if he wants to stay or go and then have to go the next driver. Also, Ann Arbor says every reship goes by this rule, with no exceptions. They were told different, but they dont want to believe it or follow up on it.

In my opinion i feel that all reshps should and i belive policy states that rshps are to be 1st in 1st out..its the only fair and unbiasad way to work...this senior driver thing has gotten out of hand..i have only been with conway for 5yrs so called bottom feeder, altho older than 3/4 people at my barn and been safe driver over 20 yrs .We all have a job to do and we should all do it to best of our ability.......

Please explain?

How is first in first out unbiased? I too am a bottom feeder, but I can see how wrong it is that just because a senior driver arrived at reship 10 min. ahead of me he has to leave first and work a 9 - 10 hr. day while I get to work 12 or more hours. Thats a lot of money he's missing out on. There might be times he wants to stay and make money, he should have the choice. Or if someone else from his terminal has something going on at home the senior guy wants him to leave first to help him out he should be able to. And explain how the senority thing has gotten out of hand? The only thing I see that senority does for you at this company is lets you pick vacations and pph days first and the bidding process.

Choice of vacation and bids is the only thing that the senior employees has now. I have even seen management manipulate the bids to screw us on that. Wanting seniority to mean nothing is the Company drifting towards Socialism just like our Great Obie. Everyone is the same and take from one to give to another. I go to three re-ships and all three changed last year to let the senior driver have his choice. If a FAC tries to force the 1st in 1st out you need to call Paul F. in H.R. When they tried this :::shit::: with me I told them I was going to H.R. and they needed to get their :::shit::: together and they got it together. One person said the XCW goes by the rules. They also tried this on me and I stopped it.(I guess that makes 4 FAC's that has tried to pull it on me) They know what they are doing, They know how to screw over senior drivers. Stand your ground in the right way and not be a smart@ss and they won't screw you.

Good for you Gunner and i agree 1,000 per cent. As soon as they know you are not going to say yes-sir boss to something you know or feel is not right, they will think twice about screwing you over. But you had better have your ducks in a row

Bottom line....It is all-ways up to the FOS that is running the show at the time .....It is his/her call to make on who goes and who stays

Seniority isn't the best, neither is 1st one in.

You have 3 guys all with 15 years service, all million milers and within a months starting date going to the same fac for years. One driver shouldn't be able to dictate the schedule of the other two because he signed up a few days earlier 15 years ago. To complicated matters more, the senior driver has used more vacation/pto days than the other two so he has actually worked less days for the company and the second driver actually had his interview before the first guy but didn't sign his papers first.

Or you have two drivers, one lazy on the verge of being fired with 5 months and the other hardworking never been late with 4 months. The 4 month guy's overall dock production is vastly superior to the lazy one's. Why should the FOS not be able to keep the 4 month guy on the dock?

How about there be a rotation (between the bid guys). That way no ones happy and no ones pissed. The
drivers aren't unhappy because a rotation is a fair way to do it and the FOS isn't unhappy because he can still get his best worker on the dock for more time.

Since when is any job a democracy? This forum isn't even a democracy and you think your job is supposed to be and its Obama's fault it isn't? I've never gone to any job thinking I should be able to tell my boss what to do. So now its onto blaming Obama that we have bosses at our jobs, when will this end???? What about the military, is that supposed to be a democracy too?

This one really left me scratching my head.

Wow driver...didn't know there was a terminal in the area that can hit all three of those FAC's. And leadership sucks for enforcing the company no smoking policy and reporting to the sectors so drivers aren't out in their trucks stealing time, and therefore money from the rest of us? And I don't know of any terminal that would reward a DSR for running with a flat - that's a safety hazard.
