TAMPA - Abby Carde and her husband, Hector Carde, opened their restaurant on Tuesday with the dream of running a successful business and creating a loyal following.
The dream was interrupted Saturday morning when a tractor-trailer slammed into the building that housed their eatery, Latin Pollo, 2102 Fourth Ave., Ybor City.
At 2 a.m., a tractor-trailer driven by Leonardo Reina, 34, of Tampa, was heading south on 21st Street when he struck the front end of a car that had passed the stop sign at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 21st Street, according to Tampa Fire Rescue.
Reina lost control of the tractor-trailer and slammed into the building owned by Hilda and Richard Guzman of Land O' Lakes.
