What do y'all think about a driver that was hired in 1995 and went thru all the ups and downs back then with hours and sitting at home and not getting but maybe 30 hours a week, when everyone was watching ODFL because they thought they were going out. a driver that stood by them then and didn't give up even when times were hard, as times went on it got better and he later on helped ODFL get some accounts that made a lot of money I mean millions. we are talking about accounts they couldn't even get through the gate. He was the only the one at his term to win JOM 10 TIMES in roll. A driver that was told many times that if you cut him, he would bleed OD green.
so with that said in 2017 everything changed. his license was changed to interstate to intrastate because of an eye condition. He fought with the FMCSA for years on this matter. he could see 20/20 in both eyes but in 2022 the FMSCA changed the law (long story short) so in the of march he got his license out turn. so, before all these happen, he called Greg Gant (before he retired) and to let him aware of this and he was told to call (and I'm not going to Revill his name) this guy was on vacation at the time and call him at home and said Hey WE WANT YOU BACK! YOU WERE A BIG ACCETTE TO THIS COMPANY. but he was told we would have to go through HR about your time and he would let him know but with farther due he didn't get his time back but top pay.
so came back at not at the bottom he had one guy below him. so, times got slow in Nov and Dec and was told hey when you get back in the afternoons help out on the dock but in the end of Jan he was called in and laid off but was told by the term manger that he would be the first to be called back.
so, him and the guy below him got laid off .So he waits and hoping they will call him back and at this time he calls MARTY FREEMAN, and he tells him they will call him back when things pick up but only to learn that the term manger has agree to let someone in the Midwest to transfer here and the guy below him takes the part time job that was never offer to him.
since then, a road driver that has only been there a few months was offer and told a local spot and the part time guy as well , as far as the other two that were laid off no calls.
just saying

time plus the guy below him has been called back for part time as well and he agrees.

Just an Employee Number & Name ..... Thats why you should always take care of yourself & family 1st.
Family is there for better or worse as far as a company when you're no longer useful in their minds they discard you like a piece of trash. Ive seen people fighting for their lives battling cancer and Estes terminate their employment in the middle of it when their short term disability ran out. Person already don't know if they are going to make it and sick from the cancer and the chemo treatments then get a letter in the mail ending your employment, but they did say if you make it you can re apply for said job but you start all over again at the bottom. The man did make it and the cancer went into remission but he said he would never work for Estes again.

Again, it depends on the company.
A Ryder driver in Charlotte had his left leg amputated below his knee because of diabetes.
The company and Local 71 went to bat for him and although he could never haul hazmat, they got him a waiver from the ICC or DOT and he finished his 30-year retirement.

I guess I don't really understand why the company owes you anything. And you expected to get your seniority back after being gone for 5 years? If a driver transfers from one terminal to another they lose all there seniority, and they've been working for the company the whole time. Because you did exceptional work for the company? A lot of people here do exceptional work but your delusional if you think any trucking company is going to feel inclined to give you special treatment. There's no such thing as "fair" or "I deserve this or that" anymore. You helped the company make millions of dollars? Most executives wouldn't bend over for a million dollars now a days. Figure out a way to make them a billion dollars, they might look in your direction for a second.
