I was thinking of applying as a Road Driver in North Lima,Ohio which is about 10 minutes from me & cuurently I have a good job, been there for 3 years but its a hour away so I was wondering if I should consider applying for ABF?Whats it like to work out of N.Lima?Whats it like starting a road driver? can You do Your 6 trips in 5 days, how does that Work? Thank You

I work for ABF in Arizona as a road driver. While I know nothing of Lima's line haul runs. I can just give you my experience when I started back in summer of 05. If freight is flowing good, you can get 6 in 5 days or so. But expect some slow weeks in your first year. I was lucky, the economy was still rolling good in 05. my worst weeks I had only 4 trips in. but that only happened 3 or 4 times. I almost always got my 6 in every week. Sometimes it took 6 or even 7 days. But I was working steadily, so I was happy.

Freight is slowing down as the recession is returning. ABF is a good union company but if you have a secure job you might want to stay there for now. You will be on the bottom rung as soonest to lay off. Good luck to you, whatever you decide.

Ranger, got it right ! .. Again !

North Lima, OH is a shuttle service, no dock. They run turns to Carlisle PA, and also do shorter turns from home(Akron, Cleveland,...). They also run triple to South Chicago.

I work for Yellow and was thinking of going to North Lima... Good move or bad move? I have 17 years in with yellow..

if you can put up with the schedule 462 nli is a good term. to work out of ,it is pretty small and we mostly go between chicago and carlisle but we do go to jersey ct and brooklyn once in awhile it isn't to often where you stay out more than 1 or 2 beds unless you ask the bad thing for the bottom guys is the hog board .if you stay long enough it gets better there a LOT of older guys here i have moved up the board pretty quicky i think any one who gets on will move up quick too i hear they are going to hire 5 guys this time
