Icy roads in SoCal cause 8-car pile-up involving semi truck

A pile-up crash sent one elderly man and two pregnant women to the hospital in southern California on Sunday morning.

The accident happened on February 26th in Santa Barbara County, California during a weekend of historic winter weather for the region.

According to KSBY 6 News, Santa Barbara County Fire responded to a crash along Highway 154 at about 7:30 a.m. along the Cold Spring Bridge. Officials arrived to find icy road collisions, which caused the crash.

ICY ROAD CONDITIONS- #Bridge Incident-SBC and CHP on scene currently of an accident involving 8 passenger vehicles and 1 semi truck on Highway 154 at the Cold Spring Bridge. IC is reporting at least 3 injuries with some extrication required. Highway blocked at this time. C/T 7:30

Eight vehicles, including a semi truck were involved in the incident. An elderly man required extrication from his vehicle and was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. Two pregnant women were also transported to the hospital as a precaution.

The highway was temporarily closed as crews worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the incident. No further information has been released.
