A 54-year-old Corydon man died Wednesday evening when the flat-bed truck he was driving was hit by a train at the entrance to Essroc Materials in Sellersburg. Sherman S. Simmons, turned right from Ind. 403 into the cement plant's main entrance about 5 p.m. when his truck was struck by a northbound train, police said.

The train, police said, hit the truck near the front of the flat bed, directly behind the cab, and pushed it about 200 feet where it hit a parked train facing southbound on a second set of tracks just to the right. The cab then separated from the bed, and the train pushed the bed another 200 feet before coming to a rest.
