There is an add in the paper for Indy city. They want casual and full time drivers and casual dock only. 1 Year and 50,000 miles. About half of what they required when I started here. Wonder if they will get many high quality drivers applying? Hope so, we need some right now.

[/quote] you would have to be a fool to quit a job to come here and work. 600.00 a week less and no future what so ever. if they do hire any, they wont be here long.

I checked it out, but the ad says PT and casual drivers, not full time. Do you guys have those 4 hour casuals over there? It seems that as soon as the guys on LOA come back, the new ones would go.

I wouldn't worry too much about the guys on loa coming back. Maybe one guy would even consider it. The others are getting their pension.
As far as the 4 hour casual goes that is dock only and we are working most of them plenty more than 4 hours and a couple are getting 14 hours at least 3 days a week. So the TM will have to hire as soon as there are some qualified applicants. The problem is no one wants to work here right now. I guess we got a couple of responses to the online add and one passed the interviews and he decided not to come to work for us. They (management) keep telling us that we are making money and that even if yrc goes that we can survive. Personally I think that is wishful thinking and I think most qualified drivers probably agree with me. But that said. If you are out of work or working a really crappy job, and are willing to work hard, come and see us.

Grand Rapids had this same ad today. Also an ad for sales. Large ads! (quarter page)

We're also being told that we are making money, BP. We're also having troubles getting our laid off guys back to work though. Some are reluctant to leave their current job because we will probably only need them for the summer, then it will be the same lay offs as usual. Personally, I probably wouldn't quit another job to come back for the summer, but that is everyone's own personal decision. Our bill count is going up though.

We were crippled today. Most folks who showed up are out of hours. A lot of guys marked off to go to the track for carb day. And the freight seemed to be way up.
We will be digging out of this all next week. I just hope it doesn't hurt us too bad with the customers. This week seemed like the old days.
We sure could use some good workers. But I think you would have to weigh the situation very carefully before giving up a half decent job to come here.
