Ah, familyman just a q.. Don't leave , we all are trying are best to make the best of whats going on here . Nothing personal " man " i don't even know you but from reading i know you are good hearted man !
Life isn't always a yes or no situation, only you know your particulars and how each are affected by which ever choice you make, which is the reason for my original post.
I could easily tell you that it's just a job and you're just a number so move on, or, on the flip side, that it's the best thing in your life so stay till the bitter end, but only you know the real answer, that was my point.
As for leaving, either the boards or FXF, so far I am here for the long run, but if it comes down to it I'm thinking of going some where warmer, got an extra room to let?

Only the select few are working everyday and don't feel the pitch like some of us. I expect it to get worse not better as the economy grinds to a halt. I have been hanging in working about 3 days a week and using a day of vacation here and there. I opened an unemployment claim just in case and fortunately have not had to use it yet. I will find something else (if at all possible) if all have to rely on in unemployment.

gearjmr, I have done the same as you, I picked 7 out of 21` on the extra board, and it's been slim pickins for me so I'm sure the guys at the bottom are starving.
I am going to a bid with the new bid but it hasn't been running everyday either, hopefully it will run or there will be an alternative on the nights it doesn't. If it gets worse and we rebid I'll go to my last resort and take a top spot on the shortest run we have, at least that will run everyday unless they close the doors, of course I'm just 10 away from either the city or a layoff myself so only time will tell.

Freight will open up here and get better but changes are in order. I would reccomend a person that has not worked in a month or so to just move on if that is an option.

Right now, it is what it is. Either you take it like a man and learn to deal with it, or you can choose not to. Every company is different. Make due with what you got now, if you can. Once things improve and jobs become plentiful again, we can either stay or find something better. Personally, family owned businesses treat you better. Like AF was at one time.

Get it straight man! The Old Man wanted to retire and DID NOT want to leave it to his sons who were going to **** the company. Like a businessman that he was, he wanted to make a profit and stay as a Board Member until his demise 5 years ago. The way he treated us, I seriously doubt he wanted to "sell us out". WITH ALL DUE RESPECT!!!
I heard something very similar to that. I put in a request back in mid january for 2 days off April 2 and 3. My request form came back to me marked with a comment "Will let you know on March 20, if we can cover your run." I run a night shuttle into a hub. And we have 3-4 extra board at home every night. I inquired as to why and was told- sorry single day off requests are on hold pending freight volume. HUH, I still don't understand.
