Mobile Platforms 26’ long, 7.5’ wide. They are loaded on the dock and then pushed onto the out-bound trailer. Usually on 53’ Vans (two = 52’).What are MPs?
Is it just KC, or are they going to do the same to Salt Lake City?Kansas City/003 is retreating to their old terminal after 3 years in a "flash warehouse" due to profitablity issues with MPs.
Why is it not a good sign? Maybe the sleds are only good for spacious docks,I’m betting that it would cost to much to upgrade the system.First yellow now this ? Not a good sign …..
Tell me more about the 96” MP. Have not heard about them yet. They just built a warehouse to accommodate the mps in salt lake and they turn around and close the kc warehouse ? Makes no sense. Might I add they just fabricated a 96” mp for more floor space .. something not adding up
I know what your saying but it may be to costly to upgrade the whole system. I’m not saying I think something is going on, I just posted a new thread about it….They just built a warehouse to accommodate the mps in salt lake and they turn around and close the kc warehouse ? Makes no sense. Might I add they just fabricated a 96” mp for more floor space .. something not adding up
Designed for swing doors onlyTell me more about the 96” MP. Have not heard about them yet.
I thought they were coming out with a 100 inch roll door for the sleds?Designed for swing doors only
Was told the old Salt Lake Terminal was condemned. Sinking or something like that. I don't know for sure if it's actually true or not. Heard it in Cheyenne yesterday. We had HEARD that SLC was going to go back to conventional loading too but stay in their new warehouse. But, in KCI, they are revamping our old dock and we're only going to load 2 or 3 MP load points. Everyone else going back to conventional.
The 96 inch MP is the blue and yellow sled whereas the old 92s were getting scraped or repurposed.
A lot of things look good on paper but don't work in the real world.MPs weigh 5000 pounds that is lost revenue for every one that rolls down the road. It was a good idea in theory. But it didn't work.
Somewhere in my reading I came across information that SLC was the only distribution center that was leased. If the lease expired that could be a reason to not go back to the old terminal. Was told the old Salt Lake Terminal was condemned. Sinking or something like that.
