Sounds to me like the deputy should have been more vigilant with his gun.That is my early assessment.

It's highly unlikely that the cop murderer was just a pot smoker though.

Looking at the rap sheet of the guy in Baton Rouge it takes a whole lot more than smoking pot to be locked up. If that guy was in prison where he should have been he never would have been shot.
