Do You know your R.O.I.?You soon will, and so will everyone at your barn, they'll be posted at every terminal,Don't know what R.O.I.means? Here's how it was explained to me.When your terminal goes active with BLU units, the tractors performance will be entered into the computer system.and the data will be available to the driver, maintenance, safety, dispatch, and management.
R;RPM's is the driver using fuel saving procedures?progressive shifting, not exeeding 1400 rpms between shifts,or accelerating too hard..
O:Overspeeds, driving faster than posted speed limit, the speed limit is on record for most locations, exceeding the speed the tractor is set at thats recorded also,if the tractor is set for 65mph and the tractors being driven at 70mph the tractors going back to the shop(did'nt ask if the driver would be written up,but would'nt bet against it)If overspeed is short duration the location could be looked up to see if the unit was going downhill.
I:Idle,excessive idling.
Scores will be posted every week, some people will find this intrusive, but looks like this could be a valuable tool for getting best performance from the equipment.

Now we need sensors on the floor of the trailer to track how many times we move freight from right to left and just how many miles we walk on the trailer floor loading and unloading .

:bananapartyhat:They know exactly where you were speeding. The powers that be do not care if it is down hill or not. There is a spot on my route where the speed limit jumps from 55 to 65 but if you don't go 55 for an extra mile you get an overspeed. Big Brother is watching!:bananapartyhat:

They tell me the computers have sensors that can even detect the jarring of rolling into potholes. If the driver hits too many potholes he's deemed to not be paying close attention to the road ahead. It also detects hits to the rumble strips on the shoulders of the highway, working together with the lane departure warning system. The compter will record the number of hits vs. the miles traveled and will determine a percentage of the number of miles that the driver was not paying attention. It also records the number of times that the truck engine makes an automatic shutdown due to extended idling. If it happens three times during your trip the computer will send a red-flag message about excessive idling. It might seem a bit paranoid, but I think it's all true. See, I hear these scary whispers eminating from far below my lower back that tell me what's really going on.

There is also a sensor in the seat that let's O.D know how many times your are farting in between stops. Also, if you fart while you are braking or shifting, you are in violation!

I've been using the BLU unit about a month now,not sure how much is being reported,if you press the performX option on the screen it gives you 3 choices;the first one tells you avg speed, top speed, overspeeds idle times etc. nothing about potholes etc.the second choice tells you recorded events, sudden accelerations/deaccelerations,third mentions engine defects/codes for shop use.I've yet to be called on the carpet for anything,is it my superior driving ability? I kinda doubt it.lotsa rumors out there, but my truth is its(so far) been pretty good at first I didn't think it would matter much but I really like the elog feature.
