ABF | Last LTL Legacy… Motor Carrier Act of 1980

Everyone knows ABF is the the last true old school outfit that’s still around….

Good story...Razorblade has ridiculed SOR when he has mentioned all the debt incurred by legacy companies to buy authority in certain areas, but there it is right in the article...."Suddenly the operating authority they had likely acquired piece by expensive piece over years and that bankers considered a tangible asset was worthless. Studies have pegged the industry wide loss of equity in the billions or even hundreds of billions of dollars. This created financial constraints for some carriers, and it was just the beginning."

I think Jimmy Carter is just hanging on until he sees the last one gone.
Jimmy was following orders from Ted Kennedy. Joseph Kennedy, the bootlegger father of the Kennedy brothers went to the Teamsters for support during the campaign of JFK. After the election the Kennedy's turned on the Teamsters. RFK, was Attorney General & he went after the Teamsters once the Kennedys were in power. The family blamed the mob for taking out JFK. They thought deregulation would break the Teamsters. There are many theories about who was behind taking out JFK but I think the Kennedys thought the mob was responsible.

Read the book, (Ten Angels Swearing) by Jim Clay.
Only RFK could have gotten Ed Partin on a witness stand.
Partin had been convicted of perjury and every crime in the book.

Meanwhile, the original Consolidated struggled on before finally perishing in a spectacular 2002 bankruptcy. Its dirty, dilapidated, duct-taped fleet had become a spectacle all by itself. That's how I felt after all those tears in Ltl. :lmao:
That was CNF’s doing… Emery Worldwide/CF Airfreight was bleeding money, and CNF had double breasted with the Con-ways… then they spun the original off to bleed and die on its own. Pretty shameful.

It was actually the swimmer, ted Kennedy who was the driving force behind deregulation. He wanted revenge on the the teamsters union and their mob allies for the death of his brothers.

The mob was in bed with the federal govt and the federal govt was involved in the assignation. Our govt has been corrupt for a long time and its getting worse.

Very true, did non union carriers such as Overnite take on debt to buy 'Rights'
They would be the major non union LTL carrier I can think of in business at deregulation.
I know others were around but I am unsure of their revenue.
