There was a driver that posted as Triples West on here that ran the West Coast. Maybe he still visits this site.I’m more concerned about the company doing layoffs, than real estate. If I make the move out there I will probably rent for a year or two anyway until I feel like we’re established enough to buy. I’ve just heard that abf does layoffs out west and wanted to find out if phoenix is one of those areas. Thanks for your help!
Thank you! There was a driver that posted as Triples West on here that ran the West Coast. Maybe he still visits this site.
Call the terminal and ask the TM. Or call the union hall and ask business agent.Thank you!
That’s a good idea. ThanksCall the terminal and ask the TM. Or call the union hall and ask business agent.
I just checked the job posting out there on there site. No openings posted. But you could ask the TM if anyone is retiring soon. That’s a good idea. Thanks
At one time ABF had drivers domiciled at Kingman. I have been retired for a while so I don't know if there is still any there. At one time they had many many miles witout an accident. Years ago Mr. Young told them if they continued to a certain point without any accidents he would send two of them & their wives on an expense paid trip. He made good on his promise.Reno Nevada has openings so does Albuquerque New Mexico
Well at ABF layoffs are common. NO ONE can tell you you're not going to get layoff so don't believe any manager that says otherwise.I’m more concerned about the company doing layoffs, than real estate. I don’t know if this makes any difference to you but there have been a lot of rumors of a ABF sale and while they are just that (rumors) where there’s smoke there is fire usually. BOD changed bylaws to allow a easier vote to sell off the LTL also. Something to consider if you are moving specifically for ABF and layoffs concern you.Looking to move out to the phoenix area and want to work for a union carrier, is abf a good job out there or are there layoffs and such that make it a bad decision? Any help would be appreciated.
I have heard those rumors since 1971. I have known several coworkers who delighted in starting rumors just to see how gullible others are. Then when the rumors turn out to be just that, rumors, they start another one & the same ones who believed that one believed another. It has been an endless cycle. I don't know of any job change that does not involve some degree of risk.I don’t know if this makes any difference to you but there have been a lot of rumors of a ABF sale and while they are just that (rumors) where there’s smoke there is fire usually. The shareholders own the company. If someone offers shareholders a large premium over current share price and enough shareholders sell their shares, that "someone" now owns the company, regardless of what the BOD thinks.I have heard those rumors since 1971. Any company that is on the stock market & is controlled by a board of directors is subject to a sale at any time. In reality they work for the stockholders & their job is to get the best return on investments.
ABF has gone through much adversity but is still profitable & operating after 101 years.
Yeah, they made such a splash that they drowned.
Are you referring to the Hostile takeover attempt on "Arkansas Best" back in the late 1980's ?The shareholders own the company.
