We have to look good to our customers you know.

We are still using this as a peddle and switch trailer. Everytime I pick it up somewhere, I deadline it because it has holes in the floor and ceiling.

How old do you think this trailer is? I'm gonna guess early 90s. I had a rail van in the shop's check bay one time when I was running the road and it was old....I asked the mechanic how old he thought it was and he walked over to the computer, typed in the trailer number and it said built in 1979.

If that trailer # is 92-1346, it is probably a mid 80s model. We started getting 92 series trailers in1982 starting with 92-0000.

I always try to look my best regardless of some of the garbage we drive.
I follow all the uniform appearance policies. Shined shoes, tucked in shirts, correct shirt and sock color.
I'm a good little UPS robot slave.

I have deadlined it at least 3 times, every time it gets put back in service.

Every time I take a rail van anywhere that does not have proper door ties (just has rope, cable, twine etc), I deadline those too...And everytime, they don't get fixed. Indy has a very tight yard. Barely enough room to crank the landing gear between trailers sitting at the dock. There is barely room for swing doors as it is so having a swing door that is being literally held open by a thread just isn't gonna do it.

They wrote me up for not shaving and not having my black shoes on,next day the DOT bumper fell right the **** off when I backed into a costumers dock, dispatcher told me to throw it in the back and keep moving.I looked damned good with a clean shavin mug and shoes shined so bright that you could see yourself shaving, while i waited for them to bring me another trailer.

I thought the rule was "black or brown and polishable".

Polishable is a cool word because you can polish anything, even a turd....Speaking of polishing a turd, I've been seeing a bunch of those old Internationals that are rebranded as UPS Freight.

then if it does not have one it is not properly regerested to drive that is your fault do a proper pre trip if not legal then cant be pulled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have been told we can only deadline equiptment for safety violations, and missing registeration stickers are not safety related.

Jeez, these are our appointment and storage units!! Our shop mgr and i had a little discussion about trlr condition. they replaced an icc bar and installed a new step-up on a 48 series. beautiful job except the threshold, and door frame were badly rusting and flaking apart, and not touched while getting the repairs and pm. Huh??? Let's use some common sense people!! The first thing a customer sees is the back of that trlr. It better be looking presentable.

The first thing a customer see is there crushed skid, then the rusty old piece of crap trailer pulling away from there dock with what used to be their freight. Till they refused it.
