TForce | Manchester NH Vote

Tell us more, what happen, how did they sell you,

There is no renegotiating. We cannot send them back to the table. Simply put, you vote NO, you strike. And technically in the Companies eyes your barn is marked and as we were onced encouraged to fight unionization in fear of being worked around, now they could work around you for not compying. This is in essence how they rope you in. A very well thought out plan by the Company and the IBT.

Bottom Line

"working around"..huh..yeap we made up runs to run around ATL years ago..BHM tun if I do recall...so begins this long journey we knew was coming when UPS bought us...guys your best friend is going to be the package folks... only with their help will we get anywhere.but the wedge is already being hammered,UPSF moving package trailers,I run with many, many feeder drivers and thats their first question, and frankly I don`t see a damn thing that can be done about it......:1036316054:

A no vote gives the IBT the right to call a strike if they do not go back to the table to renegogiate another offer.....so saying there is not any other alternative would not be correct......KK

I can look at this as the beer glass is half empty or half full. On one hand, we now have guildlines and compensation for all time alloted to the Company. Where before, it was a free for all with management doing whatever they wanted. The insurance could be better, but it is what it is. So I'm swallowing hard and saying that the glass is half full. Full of what, I'm not sure!!! We will know across the USA as of next Sunday as to where this National Contract stands as the rest of the barns that sought representation will be voting. The following Monday, if it passes you will be following this contract for five years.

Well that is not what we were told. Our local said that UPS said they will not renegotiate.

Elvis, here is your answer, Providence voted 37-3 to accept. There were 59 eligible and 40 showed up. There was about a 40 minute video from Ken H. There was very little discusion. All the other postings you see from others pretty much sums it up. I don't think I can offer anymore.

Hug,
You were more than likely told the truth....that this was UPS's final offer and there would be no more negotiations from their side in regards to the National language. Sometimes that's the hard, cold facts of a negotiation.

hug lug what did they tell you about seniority how wil it be done on the road by company or road

As of now we will maintain the National Agreement of two list. As New Englanders though, we will be seeking one seniority list within 60 days of the National ratification under our New England Supplemental Agreements. Also since NE is currently under a HMO, we will also seek to have the same plan at no additional charge. Under the new plan we are stepping down to a PPO. This will be clarified hopefully within a week if we can make that move. I won't hold my breath.

I hear you Hug, but in PVD, I think most want to keep the senority the way it has been since the begining. Like you said, local issues to be settled soon.

Although the contract is not great, It is a fair contract. We do come out ahead of what we currently had financialy. At the end of the week most will have more money in there pay checks. The raises, much lower medical costs, Overtime after 8 and 40, Road Drivers on the clock for any time spent not driving. Also the medical plan is a small step better than the high end plans we currently have.

I guess will take it,but next time(5 years) we'll bring our own bat and ball, and if they don't want to play we'll go home(strike) an we'll take parcel with us
