Michael D. Garrett SPRING GROVE Michael D. "Mike" Garrett, 54, died Friday, February 26, 2010, at York Hospital. Mike was the loving husband of Kimberly E. (Garman) Garrett. Together they celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary July 21, 2009. Born December 1, 1955, in Hanover, he was the son of Nancy J. (Garrett) Garrett and the late Carroll E. Garrett, Jr. He graduated from York County School of Technology in the Class of 1973. He was a truck driver for Consolidated Freight, L & H Trucking, and most recently worked as an assembler at BAE Systems. Mike was a member of St. David's United Church of Christ, the American Truck Historical Society, and Union USW-Local 7687. He enjoyed cooking, antique vehicles, his tree farm, helping his wife, Kim, with her dog kennel business, and most of all being with his family and friends. Mike leaves behind his mother, Nancy of Hanover; his wife, Kim, his daughter, Amy A. Stough and husband, Ray, his son, Cory M. Garrett, and his cherished granddaughter, Jasmine E. Garrett-Lam, all of Spring Grove. In addition to his father, Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Robert E. Garrett; his maternal grandparents, Mark and Arvilla (Garrett) Garrett; and his paternal grandparents, Carroll, Sr. and Mymia (Geiman) Garrett. A service to celebrate the life of Michael D. "Mike" Garrett will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, with his pastor, the Rev. Scott A. Sager, officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Viewings and times to share memories will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday as well as 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, if you desire to do so, the family respectfully requests memorial donations in honor of Mike be made to the Hershey Medical Center, Jake Gittlen Cancer Research Foundation, College of Medicine, 500 University Drive, MC H-059, Hershey, PA 17033; or St. David's United Church of Christ, 142 Hobart Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
