YRC Worldwide Inc. (Nasdaq: YRCW) announced that the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) has set a Two Man Committee meeting date of December 6 for local labor leaders to review and to decide to submit the company's proposal to the membership for a ratification vote.

"This meeting and the subsequent vote, which we believe will be ratified, is another important and positive development in our long-planned refinancing process and the continued implementation of our turnaround plan. We are grateful to our union and non-union employees who have made significant sacrifices to keep our company moving forward and our customers who have shown solid support in this process," said James Welch, CEO of YRC Worldwide.
:regretful:

Moving forward? All they do is kick the can down the road a little further with each concession. They're too stupid to change strategies. And once this passes, (and it will) they will be back for more when this newest concession expires.

The definition of insanity is to continue to do the same thing, but expect different results. Because of their business strategy, these leaders are clearly insane.

If you are not on the phone on Monday to your BA and your local President and Sec Treasurer telling them NO do not send this for a vote you should be kicked in the HEAD or maybe both!!!

Oh it will pass no doubt. through the magic of jimmyvotecount I'm predicting 55%-45%. And if it doesn't, If the Int'l grows a set, then let em close the doors. Remember to listen to conservative talk radio to get the TRUTH. I can just hear elrushbo, "Imagine IMAGINE THE GALL OF THESE SOCIALISTS!!!! RUNNING A GREAT AMERICAN COMPANY OUT OF BUSINESS!!!! one can only hope that none of them ever work again!!!!!" etc, etc,etc

skull,,, 55 is a little to high,, the IBT has to make this look real,, my guess is 50.8%,, I was real close at 52% the last time..

If these are negotiations for something to do with the contract, how come come nothing is posted what the union wants in return?

Because the membership didn't DEMAND anything in return. At my hall, we literally had a guy from Yellow stand up and tell those of us who think they could find another job to quit now so he could vote for concessions and continue working. This has happened at every one of the last three concession meetings.

Politely ask the fella to resign from Yellow if he wants to work for sub-standard wages and benefits. Jobs like that are everywhere you look. Tell him not to bring the rest of you guys down with him. It's easier for him to leave and go get himself another sub-standard job, than it is for the rest of you to stay where you're at and fight for keeping what you have.

I think some guys think the company just handed all the benefits that we enjoyed to the men and women before us. WRONG. If the men and women before us had not stood up to these companies over the years we would not have anything to be negotiating about.
We have to do the same... STAND UP TO THEM.

Another good point, I haven't seen anything from the IBT in my mailbox, only rags from YRC on how important it is to vote yes so we can all move on "together". not even a mailing that says" don't listen to the union lies, this is THE LAST AND FINAL OFFER!!!!!!!" but then those will be coming next week.
