(Salamanca, NY, August 18, 2006) - - Sheriff's deputies say a prolonged domestic argument ended tragically for a trucking couple along the Southern Tier Expressway early Friday.
Officials say it does not look like an accident. They believe 51-year-old Jennifer McCrae of Washburn, Maine, jumped out of her husband's moving tractor trailer Thursday night.
Cattaraugus County Sheriff's deputies say Russell McCrae and his wife began arguing about family issues while driving down Interstate 86 near Hornell.
They drove and argued for three long hours.
They got to Salamanca, and Russell McCrae says that's when his wife opened the door and got out.
A fall from a big rig from this high up is dangerous enough, but Russell McCrae said he was going 65 miles per hour, and could only slow his truck down to 35 before his wife jumped or fell off the side rail.
