Too much weight and too much wind apparently led to a brush fire by Interstate 94 near Hebron Tuesday morning.

The fire started after a pin supporting a trailer on a semi-truck, loaded with two giant propellers for a wind-turbine, gave out. That caused the front of the trailer to drop into the pavement, showering pieces of hot metal onto both sides of the west-bound lanes. A stiff breeze fanned the shrapnel into flames, which eventually burned about an acre, said Kevin Staiger, with the Hebron volunteer fire department.

A cloud of smoke rolled across the road for about half an hour, but caused no other accidents.
