XPO | Not every terminal is this bad, right?

So with all this talk about driving unsafe or O/S truck just remember this story. In 2003 there is a this down hill road into a town near me. Since the accident trucks over 5 tons are no longer allowed on it. The driver was writing up the truck for braking problems. The owner kept forcing him to drive it. The driver wanting to keep his job just drove the truck. One day going down this hill he lost his brakes smashing into a car at the stop sighs pushing it into the intersection and hitting 3 more cars. The mother and her 11yr old daughter in the car he rear ended were killed, he also injured 6 others. The driver was sentenced to prison not as long as the owner. The driver was told by the court that he knew the truck had brake problems he should have refused to drive it even if it cost him his job.
So get your letter signed saying it's OK to drive maybe you and your boss can be cellmates
Good point.

Long time ago, in a land far away, where all your dreams...oh, never mind that part,...company wouldn't fix a problem on many of our road tractors even after many write ups and complaints. So one day I saw state DOT doing inspections at side of road. I signaled to pull over but they waved me to continue on. I stopped anyway and got out and explained and showed inspector the problem and told him how company wouldn't fix issue for us. He put me out of service right there and told me to call shop to send mechanic out to fix problem. After mechanic came out, inspector told mechanic to tell company that unless the problem was fixed on all the tractors DOT would stop and inspect every one of our trucks and put them OOS if issue wasn't fixed. Lo and behold, almost magically the fixes were made on all the tractors in record time. Sometimes to get results you just have to do what you have to do. :idunno:
I told an oldtimer many years ago, just start these stories with,Once upon a time, and now I say......
