As reported on July 19, 2022, members of the NUCPP met with President Biden and other dignitaries during a special labor rally in Cleveland, OH.
At that meeting, members of the NUCPP Board of Directors had the opportunity to discuss the issue addressed in this article concerning survivorship retroactive pay with Department of Labor Secretary Marty Walsh. This issue has been on our radar but we were waiting to see if it would be addressed in the SFA Final Rules set out by the PBGC. Although many important changes were made in the Final Rules, this survivorship retroactive pay issue was not included.
During the meeting, NUCPP Vice President Davey Grubbs addressed this important issue with Secretary Walsh and he indicated that he would look into the matter. The NUCPP will follow-up with the Secretary and will keep our members informed of any updates.
The NUCPP retirees and active workers wish to express their heartfelt thank you to President Joe Biden and all of those in the House and Senate that supported us by affirming the American Rescue Plan Act in March, 2021.
In addition, the NUCPP Board of Directors wishes to thank all of our Pension Warriors that made this story happen. Without the unending determination of these retirees, many millions of lives would have been drastically impacted and the economic impact on the Country would have been devastating.
This story also reflects the importance of one of our most important American Rights - the right to Vote for those in Government that will represent and support what is important to you!
