RIP....... As some may know on here US Special Delivery is no longer. It officially merged with Dohrn transfer today. I longer work there but I do feel some kind of way about it. Now I'm enjoying my time at Averitt so don't get me wrong I have no regrets. but after hearing from guys that still are there and hearing that the seniority board rules are not being enforced. main thing is... how can a city guy(s) that understandably do have more seniority than the guy(s) do on line haul get top paying runs without starting at the bottom beforehand? Again I wish all involved well but for me if I was still there I would have been fighting for my old position way harder.
 
You can add Sutton Transport to that as well. We just had the meeting this morning, with a bunch of upper management from Pitt and Dohrn there.

That’s the correct one. Some of our areas overlap, a lot don’t or we have a much larger presence. My home terminal, Dohrn has no coverage at all in any of our territory.
 
Pitt Ohio Transportation Group, a group of less-than-truckload (LTL) carriers controlled by Pitt Ohio, is expanding with the acquisition of Sutton Transport, a 45-year-old Midwest regional LTL trucking company based in Weston, Wis.

The deal is a private acquisition in a move learned by Logistics Management. The deal, which will not be formally announced, is expected to close by the end of the year. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Sutton offers LTL service mainly to and from Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri or North and South Dakota. But under the Pitt Ohio umbrella, shippers will be able to access further distances through a partnership with a growing number of long-distance shipping companies.

Privately held Pitt Ohio already offers direct LTL delivery through a network of 25 terminals within the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions. It ranks as the nation’s 13th-largest LTL carrier with just over $900 million revenue in 2023.

Sutton Transport operates a 77-door terminal in Milwaukee and recently moved its Chicago terminal from Lyons, Ill., to a 126,000 square-foot facility in Northlake, Ill.

In 2021, Sutton Transport acquired CRH Transportation’s LTL division, operating five additional terminals across Missouri.

Through its Pitt Ohio Transportation Group, Pitt Ohio offers shippers extended coverage with a partnership of subsidiary companies. That offers access to nearly 50 additional terminals in the Midwest and New England states with sister companies Dohrn Transfer, Ross Express, US Special Delivery and, now, Sutton Transport.

Pitt Ohio also offers specialized service in and out of New York City with NYC specialist, Sunline Express.

Sutton Transport is a leading Midwest trucking company and proud to be family-owned for more than 40 years. According to its website, Sutton specializes in next-day LTL delivery of palleted freight, but also offers national volume LTL services. It boasts an on-time and intact delivery rate of 98.5%, an impressive on-time mark.

Sutton Transport operates over 850 pieces of equipment across 13 terminals and employs more than 700 people. It was founded in 1979, the year before the interstate trucking industry was deregulated.

On its website, Sutton says its mission is to be “the most efficient and reliable transportation network in the Midwest” and says it measures success by the loyalty of its customers.
 
We got the email from the Sutton owners this morning before our meeting saying less, but similar. Also, got to meet Robert Howard today. Seems like a good guy. This is definitely one of the more transparent mergers I've been through over the years, on the Pitt/Dohrn side at least. Not so much on the Sutton side...

There is a Sutton terminal in my neighborhood and sometimes I see the drivers at the local stores and they all said good things about the job , and since I'm so smart I drive my car one hour a day to work not there
 
It’s been a bit of a mess here the last 2 years. It was an awesome company for many years, but things got a bit out of control. Will be interesting to see the changes made by PO and Dohrn. We’re getting rolled in under the Dohrn Transfer side. I’ve talked to a couple of their drivers and they said PO completely turned Dohrn around after the buyout and they’ve been very happy with it.
