"Transportation incidents remained the most frequent type of fatal event at 2,080, accounting for 40% of all work-related fatalities.

Driver/sales workers and truck drivers accounted for the most fatalities of any broad occupation group at 966. Among all detailed occupations, heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers had the most fatalities at 831 – ten times more than drivers in “light truck or delivery services.”

FMCSA Increases Random Drug Test Rate to 50% for 2020

"According to a document published in the Federal Register on Dec. 27, the agency is increasing the minimum annual percentage rate for random drug testing from 25% of the average number of driver positions to 50% of the average number of driver positions. This change will take effect Jan. 1,

Absolutely. They just doubled the employer cost associated with this.

Then there's this - Effective Jan 6, 2020. Not sure the COST for it, but I bet there is one...

Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/FAQ

"Employers, drivers, medical review officers (MROs), substance abuse professionals (SAPs), and consortia/third-party administrators (C/TPAs) must register in the Clearinghouse to access the Clearinghouse."

"Drivers are not required to register for the Clearinghouse. However, a driver will need to be registered to provide electronic consent in the Clearinghouse if a prospective or current employer needs to conduct a full query of the driver’s Clearinghouse record—this will include all pre-employment queries beginning on January 6, 2020."

FMCSA Drug Clearinghouse Goes Live, Experiences Connectivity Issues

"FMCSA has placed a notice on the Clearinghouse website advising employers who are experiencing technical difficulties accessing the database to follow the procedures set forth in section 391.23(e) in title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations. This section details investigations employers must conduct for prospective drivers, including those that screen for drug and alcohol violations."

Unless you are are looking to start (or apply for) a NEW driving job, none of this should effect you...
