FedEx Freight | Pay differential

In 2016, the top 50 percent of all taxpayers paid 97 percent of all individual income taxes, while the bottom 50 percent paid the remaining 3 percent.

How much more should they/ we pay?

That's good, I as well, but I see beyond my own situation. I can empathize with those who aren't. Studies show most Americans aren't doing as well as ourselves.

One thing that needs factored into the conversation. While we make "more than the average - per capita", we also work more hours than average.

Another thing, studies also show "the poor" often have more for "discretionary spending" than the typical middle class wage earner, due to low (zero) taxes & the vast number of social programs.

Lastly, any effort to punish success or reward failure is doomed to fail. On the upper end, you discourage the risk/effort required, while on the bottom end you create a slave class, unwilling to climb out for fear (and reality) of losing the benefit said to help.
