Late last year, more than one hundred thousand retired truck drivers, dock workers, office workers, and others began receiving letters telling them that their pensions would be cut by as much as 70 percent – due to a law called the Multiemployer Pension Reform Act of 2014.
Early next month, the U.S. Treasury Department is expected to announce whether it will approve these cuts, and retirees from across the country are organizing to bring attention to this critical retirement security crisis. They have held actions all over the country to protest these unfair and unprecedented pension cuts. And this Thursday, April 14th, thousands of these retirees and their families will be rallying here in Washington, D.C. on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol.
