Started 14 years ago when i opened the shop for AF.Hated to leave but read the writing on the wall.Things and bosses sure have changed since then. Now you are just a number and looked down upon. All the old bosses have been replaced by puppets who have a few months under their belt and have never driven or turned a wrench. They no longer want a job well done, now its bandage it up and get it out of here.Everyones attitude is bad because they are being pushed to the limit. You dont know from day to day if you still have a job or not.I am glad im out of there and will miss my freinds. The good news i found another job where there are no cameras and radio still allowed, thats where my tool box is now.I got lucky and the job pays a little more.

Thank you for your service. I hope Fred sees the rats fleeing the ship and thinks long and hard about how to change it. This might be one way to run a company, but it's not the right way. Good luck in your future endeavors. Thanks for putting them back together after we drivers tear them up.

Good Luck to you barginhunter. !4 years is a lot of experience to lose, hate to see you go but if it isn't fun to come to work it ain't worth it. Gman

These kind of people are going to be the ones to put a hurt on Fred the ones that have been loyal and dedicated until the last few years good luck to you my friend.

:sadwavey: Thank's for your year's of service and patience with us driver's. Glad you landed on your feet. Good Luck. Fedex is a good company, but why are camera's needed? Are we all Thieve's!

Sucks to see that kind of experiance leave one of our shops but totally understandable with the direction this once great company to work for, has chosen. Has to be very fustrating not being able to do your job the right way. Equipment band-aid fixed, never washed, and vendors who only working on our equipment if there is no other work in their shops to be done due to FedEx's pain in the butt micro managing and low hourly rates.
Your right, the writing is on the wall of what road FedEx has chosen to go down. I'm prepared but so many others I see are not.
Sorry to see you go but totally understandable.

Sorry to see you leave after so many dedicated years...Lord only knows how bad we need "good" mechanics around here. Good luck with your new job..I am sure it will be another case of "our loss ..their gain"...You will probably be replaced by a 100.00 per hour vendor doing Meatball surgery on our trucks.....Its turning more into a "Mash" unit for trucks in this company...I was told we had 16 trucks out of service the other day? Just think ..you wont even have to shower and shave each morning since you wont be on TV (getting filmed) hahahah...Anyway...good luck in your at your new place!!!

A good wrench turner never has a problem finding another job. Its another loss for the company. I'm so glad I took the severance pay and ran. All I'm hearing is horror stories. Good luck bargenhunter, it looks like you hit a home run, piece of mind and more money. TP

Yep! See it all the time. Equipment "fixed" just so it'll make it outta the yard. Band-Aid here and there. A little duck tape, some chewing gum and super glue will get it going, at least to the next hub. We're running with equipment on a prayer. A prayer that it won't leave you stranded and waiting in the middle of nowhere for 3 to 6 hours until a vendor comes to your rescue. I guess when FedEx got into the LTL business they thought it would be pure profit. Well, SURPRISE GENIUSES in Tennessee!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fed EX took AF and ***** IT!!! Same with WATKINS/NATIONAL!!!!!!!!!!!! JFYI, I DO NOT blame the mechanics. They are just as frustrated as the rest of us.

i don't drive for fedex, but i can tell you that you were appreciated. some of the shops here at saia are the same way. but the break i go to everynight has a great shop. mechanics that are helpful, knowledgable, and want to do the job right. the supervisor there is the same way and not afraid to do the job himself if his guys are busy or on break. good luck with your new job, but know you were appreciated by the drivers you helped.

yep only took me four trips to shop to to get the two parts I needed replaced the 3rd shift wanted to do the right thing but the people on days just wanted to cob it back together and send it back out with a brake issue.I can honestly say I have never seen anything like it.sometimes the O/O route dont look so bad atleast the truck would be fixed the right way If I owned it and the tires would be replaced when they needed it before winter........

Hey TP thanks for the kind words.Everybody at the shop missed you when you left but happy for you.You worked hard and deserve a long good retirement. You got out at a good time.I missed the candy also.lol

This new CSA crap is going to burn them before it's all said and done. When you have a problem, you better write it up and keep the little pink copy of the V.I.R. book for your records. If it ever becomes a problem on the road, or in court?,you have documentation that there was a problem???
