XPO | Portsmouth VA--Con-Way Freight Driver covers more than 2 million accident-free miles

2 million lucky miles

Yep, that will all change now with the cameras. Wonder how they plan to have any more "million safe milers" with the camera retraining events? I mean if a driver has a "retraining event" a month before his 1 million mile mark, does he still EARN the award, or just given the award because he got lucky enough to not get a DOT reportable strike?

Accident is an accident. Camera will not have an effect. Only records it. Unless your saying that they could've otherwise lied about it if they didn't have the camera...

That too. But I was referring to a near miss that would not likely get reported. Such as someone dozing off at the wheel and jerking the truck back onto the road when the wheels hit the rumble strip. Will this unsafe act void their "safe driving record"? Technically it should because it is an unsafe act to drive while sleeping.

I guess we'll see...

does not really matter.... if the driver gets into an accident all he has to do is drive accident free for one year than he picks up where he left off. Real kick in the face for all the drivers that went consecitivly.
I guess the company has to relax the program to fit into the safety first propaganda. I am just saying

I didn't even know that. How long has that been going on?

Congrats to that driver! I feel bad for him though, getting flipped off and stuff thrown at him because his truck does 62... That isn't his fault and people should be smart enough to figure that out.

Better look at it again; it does not start back over anymore. It starts back at ZERO!! "We believe all incidents are preventable. We will measure, learn and share information from incidents and near misses to continuously improve." There is no more do overs!!

That is exactly correct. You get the safe working/driving award time back not the million mile.
