At our driver meeting this AM the CCM said that National (at least here) was back to where it was before the buyout.

He also said they have several accounts working that will generate more for both entities though he thinks National will gain more rapidly than Freight due to it being a new service offering with better growth opportunity.:1036316054:

Hope you guys are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel..:smilie_132:

Yeah, same here. Only we have less men out on the street then when we ran under the Watkins flag. And ragged Ex-FedEx trucks that leave a trail of parts on the road. And one less sup, to boot...not that it matters much as 90% of red shirts are useless. Of course they keep the dumb blond bambi bimbo and get rid of the guy who can walk, chew gum, and smoke and joke around the Haz-Mat bay. Anyway, I banged-out 19 stops in 8-9 hours not once, not twice, but 3 times last week. What's that like 2.375 stops per hour? WTF? Came home, hit the pillow and out like a light. Felt like when I used to drive for Coke back in the day slingin' cases from a sideload trailer.

And we're supposed to be in a recession? What happens when all this government monopoly $$$$ and low interest rates kick in?

It's gonna be a long, hot summer drivers.

Well first your still here after all the crying you do. 2.3 bph what is that to much for you thats just over avg for what they want out of the city drivers here, and last thing I'm sick of the cold I darn sure hope it's a hot summer:smilie_132:

Me? I aint ever felt the red shirts were useless. Seems to me everyones got an opinion...the shirts I deal with are good folks-especially the ones that like to hunt n fish. I guess it makes sense to complain bout being busy and having work??? As for the long hot summer, as long as its on the clock then the house note is paid and the kids are fed. Glad I got a job 'cause it could always get worse. I know this, Im in it for the long haul and Im gonna do my part. If Fred hands out gold watches then its one less thing I gotta buy.

Ahhhh Glad to se you have that positive Attitude back Chains...:hysterical::hysterical::chairshot:

Trust me, I'm not complaining about work. It's just that Watkins gave us earlier start times and didn't care if you got some OT now and then. And trucks...never had a problem getting things fixed. These days it's like pulling teeth.

Now we get later start times and not enough men on the dock in the morning due to layoffs when it was slow. But the TM doesn't want to hire anyone even tho we've been very busy here which leads to freight piled up all over the dock. Even some breakers with seals still intact. Guys flying around on motors all pissed off like it's the Indy 500.

So if and when you manage to pull out of that madhouse, you've got to run your a$$ off to get stuff delivered and do your pickups. The blond bambi bimbo had the gall to ask me why I brought back 2 stops last week. "Gee....I dunno rolling out of here at 10:15 with nose-loaded 10:30 appointments in front of 13 other stops?!?!? Plus pickups? C'mon!!!" If she even mentioned the word "pallet jack" I was gonna throw all my bills right in her face. Seriously.

There's no trucking people here anymore. All these red shirts with their college degrees think you just show up at the customer's dock, the freight's always ready, no other trucks there...the people inside are just waiting with open arms for FedEx National to arrive so they can load/unload us. LOL!! :hysterical:

This place has defintitely changed for the worse. If I could walk away tomorrow I would, but I've got too much seniority and bills to pay. But the TM at UPS Freight is my girlfriend's uncle and he'd like to hire me in the Spring/early Summer.

please go to ups freight gold chains

i can't stand to hear you cry any more and by all means don't let the door hit you in the *** on the way out:smilie_132:

Got news for u chains...you didnt pay attention when the family owned us. Bills per hour or pounds per is nothing new. Watkins managed the OT just as much and squeezed blood from stones too. Bitter is as bitter does...clock out an apply at UPS, that way when you work for your lady's uncle you can go back to working for "the family." Better yet, get some gojo and new tools- to fix your attitude and wash out your mouth.

Well in 2004-2006 I got plenty of OT. 50 hour workweeks in spring/summer/peak so I don't know what you're talking about. Then when FedEx took over everyone got excited when they went to OT based on an 8 hour day. But the freight well went dry and it was real slow there for awhile....sometimes was hard to get 40 but I didn't complain. Now that we're busy again, the TM screams bloody murder if you clock out 1 minute past your 8. :chairshot:

Dunno about you but I made more money 2 years ago then I do now even with raises. And I talked to some guys at UPS Freight and they're back to 50 hour workweeks. Those trucks they drive are new Volvo's and they look sharp. My 1999 Clinton-era Volvo shakes, rattles, and rolls down the road. Our TM Ebeneezer Scrooge won't even wash em' anymore. They look like crap all covered with road-salt and grime. Not that I got into LTL for the truck, but I still like to show pride in my ride.

Then last summer I got written up for having a knife and a porno magazine in my truck. Some FedEx big-wigs came in and did a surprise inspection and got all upset. OK the knife I admit was an illegal lengh blade in Ohio but by only 1 inch. The "porno" was nothing more than a car mag with a few girls in bikinis. WTF? TM pulled me into the office and started yelling at me. I just walked out.

Gold Chains

Hey,
Gold chains......You have a lot of built up rage vs the "red shirts." I am a red shirt and I would simply like to say that is people like you cause rifts among drivers-dockworkers-supervisors-office staff, and so on... We all have a role to serve as employees and we are not all "know it alls" There are some dockworkers that I have worked with that have suggest great ideas and I've acknowledged them as i have used it. Likewise, I have had dock men who thought they new everything about every single aspect of moving freight.....I have tried to show/indicate and explain to them why their thoughts/ideas are wrong. The enviornment of watkins/fedex national is still a lot better than my two previous employers... CCX and USF HOLLAND> I have never met a bunch of lazy employees in the world (USF HOLLAND) and I have never met a bunch of dull-headed managers (CCX).

There are good mixed with the bad there there are bad mixed with the good no matter who, what, and where they may be!

I made "more" money year after year. "Dunno" bout you, maybe somethings wrong on your end but I aint losing money!!! Whats true for you aint true for all of us. Cant bank on OT to pay the bills. Thats just icing on the paycheck cake. You keep repeatin your answer chains...UPS freight...they got this, they got that, they got 50 hr workweeks. I dont see how seniority is holding you back; if you got a connection, they got the hours and the pay, leave. Cause seniority with us aint paying those bills you got...Never shoulda let the knife be seen and never let the skin in the car mag be seen either. I keep my guns n girls calendar in my bag.

Bigwave...way to go. I like our red shirts. Good n bad everywhere. I follow the rules, they follow the rules, treat me with respect, even ask me how my day is goin.
Tell you this, some of them Id watch their six...back em up if it ever got too bad outside of work if you know what I mean. Man is as a man does and speaks...

Your "Clinton" era volvo is one helluva lot nicer than the old international smurfs our city guys still drive over here at freight that don't even have air or a radio. You head on over there to ups where the grass is just SO much greener but don't be surprised to find that they will stay on your *** ESPECIALLY in stops per hour and dont be surprised if you still drive a "Clinton" era volvo by the way or maybe even an international.... That would be ironic but either way good luck to you in your endeavours to find a much better job.

Dude, I don't dislike all redshirts...just the ones in my barn. And if you worked here, you'd be disgusted too. Unprofessional behavior = smoking around the haz-mat bay. And then the blond bambi bimbo went down to Florida for spring break last year and I know for a fact that a couple of dock workers went with her. The TM just sits up in his office and plays solitare on the computer and yells at drivers when he's in a bad mood. I swear I've smelt booze on his breath a couple of times. The dock's a mess, the bathrooms are trashed, trucks don't get fixed or washed, the roof leaks, the lights don't work. Drivers roll into the lot and there's big potholes all over the yard.

You try and deliver 15 stops shotgun-loaded by alkies from the temp agency. Then bring back freight and the red shirts jump all over your a$$.

This place is terrible. Hell, we didn't get any Xmas dinner this year or a party, but the TM gave the drivers a cheap-*** fruit basket. All the guys just threw them around the parking lot and smashed them all over the place. Morale is low and sinking fast.

I'd like to quit but with freight so slow right now I can't sit around waiting for another job and have my girlfriend pay all the bills. And my hookup at UPS Freight won't kick-in until early summer. Oh well, we're going to Atlantic City next week so maybe I'll win big in the casinos. :1036316054:

Xmas dinner and parties are nice, Ill give ya that. But we aint guaranteed to get those things. Some other places dont even do anything for their employees. Ya shouldnt care what Bambi does, its her a*! if you know what I mean. Who trashes the bathrooms? Truck broke? Write it up...put it in the shop. Ya fillin out your VCRs? You said you didnt like 90% of red shirts earlier, now you say just your barn? Maybe you shoulda thought about the tough guy typing before now...chains, we gotta make this thing better for each other. If morale is low help pick it up.
