FedEx Freight | Pre Trips And Post Trips

We had a driver who did his post-trip and found a defect on the lead trailer. He wrote up the defect in his ELD, selected the “NOT roadworthy” box, then notified the shop about the defect. He was told by the shop to put the trailer to the dock to be emptied and somehow the dock reloaded the trailer and the repair was never made.

The “next driver” hooked the trailer, claimed they did a pre-trip by acknowledging on the ELD that it was done, and proceeded to pull the equipment even though the defect was still showing “NOT roadworthy” in the system!!

On a different note, watched a driver drop out this afternoon and he never made it past the landing gear although he showed a post-trip in the ELD!!

Some guys are just gonna have to learn the hard way!!

Maybe you and your clown bubby who started this thread should worry about things you all can control rather than running to tell on someone and try to get more brownie points with the boss. I had a trailer not long ago that came in off hub with a 3 inch hole in air tank, good thing he or she chalked trailer, I went in and told dispatch what they did after that who knows not our jobs to hand out discipline...... If you all want to discipline drivers get into management.
