Yellow | Purchase transportation getting cut

I beleive the thinking is do well on the upcoming ABF, T-Force then Yellow contracts and show the Non Union workers there is a benefit to joining then try to Organize and be able to show those stronger contracts. the first question at the non Union companies is always why I should join ? Why should I pay Union dues ? You need a good answer.

That will be a hard sell if Yellow folds as a result. That has to be considered as a real possibility. They ar already faced with restructuring their debt next year which isn't a rosy picture.

I don’t think that’s right, in fact they closed Glen Moore shortly after buying USF.
Its a little long be does mention the logistics part as,well as truckload.
And after reading this they leaned heavily on the regional part as well.
Whatever it was, it certainly didn't happen...at least not like they envisioned.

I Can’t recall one time they have had an issue restructuring debt, the banks make a ton off this debt.

They know they have to increase wages in the next contract to solve their issues with flying guys all over the country and paying them thousands of dollars a week to work the dock because they can’t get employees. Which by the way they seem to have no problem paying.

Hey Cmon Brass, that’s a great find but you can’t use a yellow statement to prove a fact, Yellow may suck but there damn good at the propaganda. :chuncky:

If interest rates stay where they are the banks are going to want two tons next year.

PT normally runs from break to break.
I'm pretty sure that Yellow in Milwaukee is using PT on peddle runs. They can't keep up with their own freight and taking on the Holland freight but not taking Holland drivers, they're going to need PT to keep up.

So the bad a** Teamsters Union executives aren't going to take any more crap from Yellow. Wow, they sure are showing how tough they can be with a crippled, financially weak company like Yellow. How come they can't do squat about organizing the well-to-do non union carriers? Crickets???
Because the well to do nons have relatively happy drivers. The non drivers I talk to range from non committal to openly hostile. And the well run companies would employ the same response that Starbucks and Amazon use.

Has O'Brien initiated any new organizing efforts if freight? Working on Fedex, Estes, Old Dominion, or any other big players? I'm just asking because I really don't know.
To many times the union has gone after companies just to show that they are doing something, waste of time and money and we look bad if we don't succeed. you only need 1/3 of workers to sign cards to file for an election, uphill battle, plus historically you lose 10-15% who signed cards by time of election. If you have to sell the union to the workers it normally doesn't work, they have to want it because the company is treating them like ::shit::

Someone educate me please. How much of PT does Yellow use and where exactly? Being from NY with New Penn for 20+ yrs, having friends over at all Yellow terminals running the road, PT never came up in conversation
We have some here on the west coast, I wonder why with the mess Yellow created. I don't know how many we have but we have them.

And they're closing a terminal in Milwaukee, where this PT is used?
I've seen them in the industrial parks around Oak Creek WI. that's where the yellow terminal is. I didn't see them out on the big street (94). I talked to a yellow peddle driver who said they were using them because they can't keep up. Just saying what I saw and heard. Both times it was a newer freightliner sleeper. One was hooked to a long van, the other time it was hooked to a single pup. Couldn't see the writing on the door, some lettering with LLC after it. This was about 3 weeks ago. We hadn't received the letter yet

I'm at Milwaukee YRC.They are using 5 cartage daily to peddle freight. This was supposed to be temporary till people were hired. Now ,they have a few new guys and they haven't had tractors to drive. So they put 2 guys in a truck just to have them do something because 6 travelers are there doing very little dock work and there's nothing left to do on inbound in the morning. It is the craziest I've seen it since I've been there. But the terminal manager is absolutely giddy , even as they write huge checks for cartage.
