I keep hearing different explanations as to UPS's stance on team run operations. Some say that UPS is looking to do away with team runs, while others say that UPS is planning to keep team runs. I have recently been reclassified as a dock/CDL and I am waiting for things to open back up here in Portland, OR. However, with exception to only one of our driver's, we have all been waiting for something more than just team runs out of Portland, OR. I really feel for our drivers here because after UPS came into the picture, they lost almost all of their day-cab bid runs and were left with mostly team runs.

And, at this point I am hearing that Portland may or may not continue to operate with team runs. I really want to stick it out here but part of me fears that Portland may see nothing more than team runs, and I just do not want to run teams for 20 years or more. I have asked my ops manager, terminal manager, and even some of the central dispatchers what they know of this and no one seems to have an answer. Does anyone on these boards know of an answer to this question?

And, to those of you that run a team bid, my hat goes off to you. I mean no disrespect with this inquery. I have nothing but respect for those of you who chose to do teams on a constant basis.

The only thing I have heard is that UPS is trying to do away with long layover schedule bids and have more turn schedule bids. I have not heard anything regarding teams.

ollie, I run out of Sac and do a Grenada meet. I think you know me. However, They cut all the single runs except mine meeting up north. Rumor has it mine might be cut by June. What we are hearing again I said hearing is that it's going to be all teams on the I-5 corridor. That way they can use Gordon and Interstate to contract the over flow. Which you and I know there will be more over flow than our runs.
They are putting two teams in SLO. Going to be turning Denver twice. I think they are going to do the 80 corridor just like I-5. All team doing meets. So to sum it up. Team meets and mini hub turns is our future. Oh! don't forget the contract carriers.
So after saying all this and of course the contract they are shoving down our throats. It doesn't look to Rosy.
That's why I hope we all have enough sense to fight back starting with that crappy contract.:smilie_132:

Sorry to hear the news, Skeet'. I remeber hearing the bad news starting in Sacremento when I first came on. And it only seems as if things have just gotten progressively worse for all of us in the west and there doesn't appear to be any sort of light at the end of this tunnel.
