How hard is it to become a driver at the Reading terminal? I also wondered if anyone knows if there is any dock positions at this location. What does the dock positions pay? What about drivers pay?

usually, they don't hire you unless you have a cdl, althought thats not 100% the way it is any more. than and this is just a basic senairio of what goes on in the hireing prosess.you would work as road driver if they need drivers, on call of course. but than if they get really busy, you would filter in on out-bound dock work. and as you run into summer and alot of vactions start takeing place, you could work your way into city work. you also might work causual road and also dock depending on if and when they need help. all in the same week.if you get officially hired, you would be on the city extra board, assumeing any bids that are posted are all taken by men that have been there awhile, if for some reason bid left open, you could be forced on that bid, as the bottom man on list. reading has no bids on there road board , so if you every got enough seniorty, you could be on a list to be called when they got down to you.they do have dock and city bids. it's a wonderful life working in the trucking business. the little bit of life you have left when your done working that is.oh you asked about pay, think we are at .53750 @ mile and hourly is at 21.720 an hour. but when you get offcially hired you start at 75% and think its around 18 months till you get full rate, but not sure on that part.if i was you and you are still young, go back to college and get all A's and get a real job, esppecially if you have a family started and want to keep it!!!!
