Not sure if anyone has any knowledge of hiring practices, but hopefully someone can help....

My wife and I want to move our family from Ohio to Florida. I am currently employed with an LTL carrier here and have applied for jobs with AAA Cooper's Jacksonville and Tampa terminals.

My question is, will a company like AAA Cooper hire someone from out-of-state before they've moved, or does the person need to move first and then apply?

Thanks in advance.

I know it probably isn’t much help but have you reached out to the local terminal manager in the area? I’d be willing to bet as long as you had a residency lined up they would hire you. Good experienced LTL hands are getting harder to come by.

I'll reach out to them, but I don't have residency lined up yet. We have to sell our house here, and I don't really want to do that unless I'm sure I have something in Florida. I have prospects, though.

Good luck. Keep us posted. If nothing else I would line up a short term rental just to establish residency until I closed on my new home. It might make it easier to secure a mortgage that way too, once you have a solid income in your new area.
