What's up with the running the extra weekend a month..Wasn't it, not so long ago, that management agreed to let us be with our families on the weekends..What happened to the "family oriented atmosphere" here at Estes..Are we no longer family? Does the family no longer matter? They say it's due to increased freight levels..Well..The freight levels in our region have increased at one terminal..And it's a bypass terminal..What this is going to involve, is Estes pulling more empties,to go get freight at bypass terminals..This is what caused Estes to R.I.F all those drivers back in late 2009..Put them out of jobs, then started rehiring. Hiring more extra board drivers at those bypass terminals would fix this problem and the freight would move at the same speed..Less empty miles, results in better profit margin..

I don't mind working..And this is not meant to be a complaint thread,or to show disrespect to Estes..That's not the point..But blowing smoke up peoples butt is not the way to get people to produce..And if "family" doesn't matter, then don't make the effort to tell people you are concerned about it..Drivers that get over 2500 miles a week should be finacially sound....If a driver cannot make it on what he makes off 2500 miles, then something is wrong with the way he manages his money..

Like I said, I won't refuse to do my Sunday..But when Friday morning gets here, and drivers don't have the hours to complete their runs for the week, then TM's are going to be pulling their hair out, to try to find Utility Drivers to cover it..This is what happened before, and it's going to raise it's ugly head again..

When is enough,enough.. Just a thought..

agreed. though we are not feeling as say, KC. I was there this week and saw their weekend rotation. and then to top it off, they are getting more runs and we aren't (their new runs affect us) and half the run will be run empty every single night. then they claim the family stuff. what other ltl companies run a wild eb? i don't see it. this eb is wearing on me right now. i don't understand how they claim efficiency and then do stuff like they do. you are right. many drivers will not have the hours to run. someone is going to have to cover that.

I am a road driver at fedex freight and we only have 2 driver classifications here, road and city. We do have extra board drivers but they run regular schedules covering vacation time or overflow. We have. Noone that runs the system and stays out all week

If estes did this system and the eb drivers kept "somewhat" of a schedule (ie nights vs day) I would be in heaven.

We are getting a little off topic here guys.. The purpose was to find out "What makes management think, that running bid run drivers on weekends will save money"? Extra board is exempt from running extra runs on the weekend..And deservedly so..They shouldn't have to..

Personally,I think they are trying to find out,if hiring more drivers,is the real answer..If they can make bid run drivers work weekends, they won't have to hire more drivers..That..Is not going to set well with drivers that want a life beyond Estes..

And..We were told that the company was "concerned" about the drivers being home with their families..Well..Were they saying the truth or not.

You have it pretty much spot on there STARK. Have a friend who volunteered his weekend, ran 250 mty miles to run a loaded set 80 miles, then 325 mty miles back home. I know he is not the forced scheduale driver, but the same results happened, to many mty miles to justify his dispatch in the first place

Yeah they want us to work a extra day but what about are 401K or the day after turkey day and x-mas what about the 3 personal days???????????

Give us back what you took , give us are cost of living raise and I wouldnt mind working the extra day....I bet others feel the same way

You're not going to mind it anyway driver..You're going to do what it takes to keep a job..Just like the rest of us stiffs..If you don't..Well,the stack of apps are getting thicker..They may need a greeter down at your local Wally World..

Speaking for myself and i'm sure many others who sat home last winter, I will take all the work they can legally offer. 34 hours is plenty of time to rest up and get some things done at the house. I've been running like this since coming back 3 months ago + hope it stays like this all year. Sure it's not for everyone, but I say take it while its there because you never know what can happen.

I agree BuzzBeez..In part.. I run a 575 mile run every night..If I cannot make it on what that run pays me,then I got a serious financial problem..Let us remember,we didn't take a serious pay-cut like the others did...If you take the pay-cut they took minus the 401K cut we took,it pretty much looks like they took a worse hit than we did..And plus, you are still contributing to your 401K,without Estes..So you are still planning for your future, but with less contributions..OR..You could be without a job..Looks pretty good after the last statement..Many would take the job..And gripe about it,I'm sure of that..

Good to see back Buzzy..
