some STDF linehaul men are telling St. paul drivers we at St. paul are costing the company money and jeopardizing a raise in pay on our next contract.
They are refering to the recent purchase of 50 new linehaul tractors with under the cab exhaust.
We refused them and had the union compel them to retrofit an exhaust stack. STDF has a contract (agreement) with the union that specifies equipment standards. This is for our comfort and safety. The language in Article 16 section 6 paragraph r susection 1 reads "All new diesel tractors and new yard equipment shall be equipped with vertical exhaust stacks". This was put in the contract probably in the 80's. It was put there for a reason, and agreed to by the company. Purchasing made an expensive mistake.
