RIDGELAND -- A 48-year-old trucker died Monday morning on Interstate 95 after his 18-wheeler slammed into trees in the median, according to authorities.
Mark T. Parry of Summerville was traveling south on I-95 approaching mile marker 24 near Ridgeland just before 2:30 a.m. when he ran off the road, according to police and the Jasper County Coroner's Office.
"He never even touched the brakes," Ridgeland police Cpl. Dave Kopenhaver said, adding that investigators found open containers of beer in the cab.
Parry wasn't wearing a seat belt and was found on the passenger's side of the cab
