ODFL | State troopers oppose bigger trucks

I pull triples every night and feel i am as safe as anyone else on the road. One reason is our company has a good maintenance program, is it perfect, NO but, above what i believe is par. I would like to see the data of out trucks put out of service compared to other companies. I know it looks scary and kinda crazy from the outside looking in but you need to spend some time in the seat before you can really be a partial judge or give a proper opinion.

this is a sad reality to our trade.... just because WE(state troopers) don't like you triples/lcv's, without facts to their safety; those over paid traffic cops can protest large combinations... per million miles; triples/LCV's are the safest trucks on the interstates... also consume less fuel and emit less green house gases(like I really care) In the article, they have a picture of a set of "B" trains... still extremely safe....tonnage/miles driven/mpg/driver training/emissions it's a win-win situation....please spare me on the old line of "they took er jobs" that; my brothers is an argument for another day....

Railwayage? Im guessing that's a railroad magazine. Of course there is a negative article that pertains to trucking in there. It said doubles are in more accidents than a single trailer. If i had kept track of how many times if seen a 53' trailer off in the bushes vs. a set im sure the 53' would easily take the cake.

I agree with Bird--Pulled triples for 8 years with big Purple, maintenance is the key here. If the equipment is maintained and fifth wheels are greased on that rear trailer, you really never have too many problems. The big difference I see between FEDX and OD is the way our dock guys load trailers. Still amazed how well they are balanced over hear vs there. Cant tell you how many times the rear is heaver by 3-6k than the dolly--that can make an interersting ride but, just slow down a little and that third "wiggle" wagon will generally stop wiggling--besides if it wiggles, it keeps 4 wheelers away from you especially when you wiggle your rear at them LOL --

If you take Fedex out of the equation, you never see a set in the ditch!
