FedEx Freight | Such a thing ?

The two guys that quit right before me were going to other LTL’s and they escorted them out, I wasn’t so I was able to work my 2 weeks.
I had one when I left. Told them why I was going to OD, and gave them two weeks notice. They let me work it and told me if I ever wanted to come back I'd be welcomed. No need to burn a bridge that you might have to cross back some day.

Interesting, and agreed. I have to wonder how long ago this was, and was OD a significant competitor, at the time? I wonder if the "policy" might vary depending on the significance of the competitor. For example, Central, vs XPO, vs UPSF, vs Coop.

2011...I was extra board at the time and had been with FedEx for over 6 years. We had about 20 our so drivers that never saw the light of day due to the merge with national. Most of the freight at that time was going either "power only" or on the rails. I explained that I didn't want to make the change but just couldn't afford to work one night a week any longer. No hard feelings toward the local management and am still friendly with them to this day. When I placed at the TDC, the first text I recieve was from my old manager. To this day still some of the best people I've worked with.

The two guys ahead of me went to Dayton freight, not a major competitor.

When I punched in on my last trip in 1990, dispatcher said, he would call if he needed me, I think he lost my
number, I'm getting tired of waiting.
Still was the best job in trucking.

Interesting there seems to be no rhyme or reason on this one, beyond the relationship between the individual & management. Seems odd that this decision would be left to center discretion alone, but that just might be the case. Obviously I've been speculating, looking for some consistency. Never seen any written policy on the topic.

Not really a big deal, either way, but I might have to just ask. :scratchhead:
