ABF | Teamster or schemester

I never did & retired a Teamster. Let me give you an example of that crappy insurance. My son was born 1971 and the company I drove for had great insurance they said. Cost me $3800 dollars at the hospital. Daughter was born in 1974 & I had a teamster driving job. She also had a club foot when she was born and her birth, surgery on her foot and a year and one half of weekly casting of her foot, TOTAL cost to me........ 0.00 with my CRAPPY insurance through our Teamster contract. I doubt if the dues I paid over 30+ years even came close to this.:1036316054: Now my son in law is a deputy sheriff in Orange County Ca. has to put in 30 years for full pension and the money you describe sounds high but they pay a little more into their pension from their pay equal to what most pay into Social Security because they don't pay S.S. therefore they don

Because it keeps abf from hiring more driver's.Why not just pay us more.
So, I assume you turned in contract proposals back in November to your Business Agent to cover the pay issue as well as proposals for all the other issues you want changed? If not, then you have nothing to complain about. Like most things, you must be pro-active and participate. Not just sit on the sidelines and bitch-n-moan about how bad you have it.

I think the one part I agree with is that it sucks working 60 hours per week for 30 years until you can retire. It's exhausting, and if I were still doing it, I would likely be partially disabled because of my lower back.

ABF has made the decision to work you guys every MINUTE they legally can in exchange for a pension. Many won't make it to the promised land because they're going to have fatigue accidents and working that much is just plain unhealthy. I was looking at my Facebook memories recently, and an ABF-era post read, "I can't wait to die in a hotel room."

But until you guys can change it...that's what you signed up for to get a pension. If you think the pension isn't going to work out, go apply somewhere that better suits your needs.

Do you know of any ltl where the great majority of drivers regularly and consistently work just 40 hours per week?
