Yellow | Teamsters Tell Yellow No More Purchased Transportation

"Yellow (NASDAQ: YELL) and other LTL carriers use purchased transportation to solve for capacity shortfalls within their networks. The process is typically deployed in linehaul operations and involves the use of outside truckload fleets or intermodal rail service to move shipments longer distances."

The "capacity shortfalls" are the direct result of Senior YRCW, now Yellow, management's decisions to reduce pay and benefits since 2009. Substandard wages and benefits have resulted in their inability to hire Teamsters sufficient for their operational needs.
Now this farce of an MRCOO is attempting to alter the duties of drivers, in direct violation of the current contract.

ABF was offering $10,000 sign on bonuses not too long ago. Seems it was an industry wide problem, not just Yellow.

Your right, but how can Yellow pay to fly drivers all over the country with their present balance sheet?
They are paying flight, rental car, hotel and the time you are flying to the point you check in and then another $50-$150 on top of each day plus the $40 daily for food? Come on workers are coming back with ~$2000-$2500 take home paychecks but you cant give a raise to attract and retain drivers? We need IBT to fight a good contract for us big time.

Hire more Teamster drivers purchased transportation should have never been allowed. Their recruiters suck this is still one of the best trucking jobs should be no shortage of applicants.

Why doesn't Yellow study what ODFL does and follow that model? Obviously the way Yellow operates is not working. The company is constructed with debt, what they have is unsustainable.
They are backing off of their plan to improve yield, which means they are more worried about tonnage than profits. Further deepening the the hole Yellow is in.

Oh really like looking for any reason to fire drivers after they turn 50 or have more than 2 weeks vacation. Go on FMLA they fire dump you the day after the 12 weeks is over.

You think I'm joking we just had a guy come over from XPO needed more time to recover off on FMLA they just cut off his benefits no longer employed has to reapply.
Yes we are getting the older ODFL, FEDEX, ESTES etc workers coming to yellow lately too.
