A bunch of fat cows? That’s hilarious but true. The honeymoon is over…the nightmare continues…..I see more axe swinging coming
Bedard was not shy about sharing his views on other shortcomings as well. In unusually stark language for a CEO, he said the U.S. LTL operations were “a bunch of fat cows,” a reference to the size of the staff. But also troubling, he said, are old technologies that create the need for “an army of people to service our customer.”

The billing systems inherited in the UPS deal have been a particular problem, according to Bedard. A new system is expected to be in place by the end of the year.

TFI’s US LTL operations need heavier shipments, CEO says of Q1 results

The U.S. LTL OR was 92.6% in the first quarter, which is an improvement over the 95.7% from a year ago but is worse than the 88% of the second quarter of 2022, when the post-pandemic bull freight market was ending to be replaced by current weak conditions that continue to drag on.

U.S. LTL operations at TFI had a worse OR than its truckload segment, which posted an OR of 89.6%. TFI’s LTL operations in Canada had an OR of 80.9%.

I feel the pain….I wonder what tricks they have up their sleeves to lower OR.

When they stop worrying about certain customers only and focus on getting ass many shipments out and picked up will be a start.
You've got these fools picking up giant pallets of wood saying oh they're profitable, it takes an hour and a half to unload them by hand and that hour and a half is two or three deliveries not getting made or two or three pickups being missed

Clerks are probably gone by years end and linehaul will continue to be revamped so more freight coming off the rails. Thats was my take on the conference call transcript.

I see A.I being implemented. A few Amazon DC’s have some type being used.
Also some sort of central dispatch for P&D.

We’re somewhat emerging into the present like this years Cicada’s, with paperless DR rollout…minus any Haz-Mat paperwork needed to be carried by driver. Saving money on perforated paper and accidental 2nd copies…the rollout might have a few flat tires at start. Hopefully these positive type rollouts don’t regress and we have to suffer for the next brood of ideas.
I’m surprised at how much nipping and tucking they are uncovering. We’ll probably have bidets installed before we get rid of the oversized Diad

Advantage Lumber? Lmao

Remember that the same people who are booking this lumber account were doing rogue fitness and sun setter and other ridiculous freight that no one person can handle, and all residences.
The freight that fits is a TFI proposal, but the people running this company are all UPS freight holdovers.

Sunsetter is horrendous freight, damages easily, long and heavy I have seen it go through the system at ABF sometimes…

We don't have any billing clerks. They basically handle all the customers issues , for which there are many.
We have one and I know of several others that have them as well. As for coustomer issues yes we have plenty of those. I'm crossing my fingers things will get better.

The real reason why t force is failing an etc is because they're paying the drivers unlimited overtime for 32+ dollars and and also the drivers have to work the docks b4 making delivers losing time throughout the day not bring able to get all the pickups and deliveries efficiently. Also because of losing customers due to performance and management making too many red tape policy n rules at terminals. Also because it's a Canadian company and American only like to trust an use American product and other companies for services. This is why the company Operaing ratio is always high 92s. Most terminals pnd drivers drive so far out we have to fuel our trucks up everyday just to go get a couple of pallets 50 miles away?? Causing over unnecessary fuel consumption.

Some of what you say is true, some not.
For lack of a better term, the retarded ups freight position of over concern of a few shipments at the ruin of the rest .
That being said , so much freight in the ltl business is now from brokers.
Which means that the shippers are simply looking for the cheapest rate.
Service times are irrelevant. They also hope that our drivers are dumb enough to give them free, lift gate, residential and inside delivery.
We are plenty busy with freight, but the system is run so poorly that it can not be efficient.

You see more coming? It hasn't stopped at my barn. We are all taking bets on when and how many are next. We all worried about for a while but now we could care less.
That's the attitude t force has created, place is Joke and will be the next yellow start looking for work

I think bedard actually does have good business sense but the sad thing is it will shrink the company (for the time being) because rates are garbage.

Bringing on heavier shipments may not solve this dilemma.
The CWT for Q1 2024 including fuel was $35.08 which was down 6.07% from Q1 2023
Meaning they are getting paid 6% less per hundred pounds of freight.
Heavier more dense (lower class) freight will push that metric down even further.
This will be a long road best to study what the great carriers like ODFL are doing.... They seem to have this figured out..
