And so it begins. Tonight we were informed that we have been given a “No Talking Zone” which consists of the yard and dock. We are not to talk at all with our co-workers in these area and you better be very careful about passing notes because the teacher may just get a hold of them and give you a detention. Please tell me I'm not going to have to go through puberty again too. This is ridiculous they want us to work another 15% harder in order to make up for 15% they did not bleed from us and this is what they come up with? What are they thinking?

Remember...
No communications with supervisors on load status etc...

It might be a trick to give you a letter.

hey boygeorge...just worry about :buttkisser: next time that you report to work!

First of all my Brother from Chicago the company would have to negotiate that NO TALKING rule with the union. And if it is not a company wide rule that will be their first hurdle. And I can assure you they still talk at 065. Just a few problems I could see with a no talk rule would be the safe manner on how trailers are loaded. How would you communicate to your fellow Teamsters that you have not completed loading your freight before they start loading theirs? How will the Teamster Dock workers tell the Drivers of a problem they may have unloading their trailers in the city? I would assume then Drivers will not be allowed to talk also? How will they talk to their dispatchers? And besides to tell one of us Teamsters we can't talk is HOMICIDE because we would EXPLODE if we couldn't TALK! lol YOUR BROTHER ALWAYS!

This could turn out to be a fun little game. No communication will cause these supervisors more grief, go ahead pull their chains and watch them dance.

Did someone forget to tell us we work for UPS and when are they going to paint the equipment ::shit:: brown. Communicating is the most important tool you have to use as a dock or yard worker you can not perform your duty's properly and safely. I think this would be considered unsafe working condition. Your protected by the NMFA,local, state and federal law's if your local will not stop this violation i would contact someone at your local labor board and good luck.

Use of hand signals could get interesting. :biglaugh:

You have to be careful with the hand signals. I got writen up for using "hostle jestures in the work place". He did laugh tho when I told him the hand signal was a lot better than what I was going to say to the person.

Those safety vests on the dock are a joke. Now we have to wear are seat belts on ups property even when we are in our own cars.

Trying to get rid of freedom of speech now? Wear a t-shirt at work that says "Bite Me."
[/quote]

This has nothing to do with Freedom of Speech. What are they teaching you in that college of yours. Is this a stupid rule? Yes. Does the company have the right to put in place such a rule? Yes. Now a union company may have to go thru the Union of course. But they still have the right to push this stupid rule.
But no way, is this a Freedom of Speech issue.
