Yellow | The Teamster's friend in the White House

Obama a friend of the teamsters? Be serious. He said what he had to say to get elected and what everybody wanted to hear but he is not in Chicago now. He is in the White House.
"that prompted Mexico to slap duties last year on $2.4 billion worth of U.S. goods,"

Man, those farmers are pissed and

You do remember that our union dues help pay to get elected right?
If you didn't contribute to DRIVE then your dues didn't support Obama. Personally I gave to drive and Obama is ok by me so far.
Personnally I think Local 710 should have some of the BA's over at the White House keeping tabs on Corporate America. Every time a company demands their employees to take a pay cut, hit them with a higher tax code.

No one asked me but I would rather take my money and flush it down the toilet before I gave it to Drive.

Teamsters BA's can't keep accurate tabs on themselves so I definately wouldn't trust them running this country!! haha

In all my years of contributing to drive,I never saw any benefit for teamster members out of it. It got Hoffa and his cronies invited to fancy dinners and meetings that may have benefited them, but nothing for us.The teamster union should stay out of politics and use that money to help union members that are laid off and those that have fallen on hard times. If nothing else, they should put that money into the mismanaged pension funds.Every little bit helps.

Drive is and always has been a slush fund , established so union officials can go on junkets , golf outings and fat-cat trips to places like Las Vegas. A small portion of it has been used to support donations to politicians like Nancy Pelosi , Ted Kennedy and other noxious human trash politicians. If you have been giving money to them , you have been had. To be polite.

Giving money to a political party is not a brilliant move!
Sure it is, it is helping create those new "GREEN" jobs. :biglaugh:

You guys make it sound like there are still lobbyists in Washington. There can't be any of them left. Obama said that he would throw all lobbyist out of Washington. So I think they have all been kicked out. :biglaugh:

Why in the world would the Teamsters have endorsed him to begin with? He was a driving force to behind deregulation. His brothers had a vendetta against the Teamsters that he followed up on. So then Jr Hoffa decides to endorse him for office and write a nice obit when the Murdering Rapist Drunk kicked the bucket.
I was disgusted.

The posts on this thread show how far apart the teamster leadership ,(Hoffa and his cronies) are from the rank and file teamsters. There are two different classes of people in this country,I guess you can call them the haves and the have nots or the wealthy and the working poor. The wealthy and the politicians have wanted this for a long time and they are getting closer to it every day. Hoffa has decided to side with his wealthy friends like Obama and the politicians who seek to keep the working man down. This association has done nothing for the rank and file teamsters. Anyone who believes Hoffa is on their side is in for a rude awakening. The IBT leadership needs the money from your dues and drive contributions to maintain their status with the politicians and the wealthy class. The IBT leadership are just like the politicians today. They tell us what they need to, to get our votes and then they do whatever they want to,usually to benefit themselves. You have seen in last few weeks that many of our pension plans are in the critical status, but if you could see the pension plans for the teamster leadership, you might see their plans are very healthy and secure. Why? Because they take very good care of themselves with dues money and drive contributions. Teamsters,It`s time to wake up and smell the coffee. We need to hold our teamster officials accountable as well as our poiticians while we still have a vote. Look not at what they say, look at what they do.

I smell the coffee, but the problem is the coffee isn't for a Teamster. It is a Teamster giving a coffee to the dispatcher to get a better run. Drivers must stop that ::shit:: first in order to embrace being a Teamster, again.

there is a sizable sinkable faction of the almighty teamster's union who believe that teamster power is a god given right and haven't been in the game that long to understand that all of what the teamsters gained in contracts over the past 30 years or are so where accomplished just for the sake of good economic times and a strong teamster presence in the industry. There were only 2 short strikes. The economy fell into catastrophic mode at a time the boys in Overland Park, KS were uniting the best union trucking companies in the land. Fahgettaboudit!! Too bad they owe $1,000,000,000. Non-union competition got bigger and better and combined with tough times you are

Thats why I hope the US Government decides to open the borders and lets NAFTA take place. Then the non-unions drivers can get the real un-constitutional taste of what Deregulation is all about. Looks like there will be a lot of drivers volunteering to sign those union-cards after all. See, are pensions will be saved.

"According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, in the 15 years since NAFTA came into force annual U.S. trade with Canada and Mexico has tripled to nearly $1 trillion. More than 100,000 small and medium-sized U.S. firms now employ Americans to produce goods and services for export to our NAFTA neighbors."
