Through No Fault Of Their Own!

Not to mention how deregulation ended up putting just about every unionized freight company out of business due to the fact that before deregulation, a company had to pay for territorial rights (by purchasing other companies for their territorial rights) to operate in that territory. After deregulation, all the start up, non-union freight companies could operate wherever they wanted. This made an unfair playing field for the union companies as they no longer had these territorial rights that they had paid for. Did the government correct this flaw in their government oversight? The answer is NO!!
Instead, they stood by and watched as hundreds of freight companies went bankrupt due to the unfair cost disadvantage created by deregulation. But at least the share holders and CEO's got theirs!!
(That last sentence was sarcasm. Heavy on the sarcasm!!!)
Those territorial rights cost $millions of dollars. They were not cheap.

Well, in that case, I put in 20 years, for a non union LTL, put me into CSPF and let me draw a pension. The government needs to take care of all of us, right?
I was told many years ago by a ole timer teamster with a cigar in his mouth and a hat on with many union pins on it and he said to me, there are 2 kind of truck drivers. The ones that are union and the other ones that want to be union! Guess he was right? Joe and butch made my pension great again!

The only alternative is to close CSPF and pay off the current retirees and the ones still in the pipeline. Let these companies change to a 401-k. Let the teamsters put some money in the pot.
You are on the wrong forum.
You should be on the "reasonable thought, common sense and personal responsibility forum". This is the my employer owes me free healthcare, the government owes me a secure retirement and YRC has plenty of money but they are hiding it with accounting tricks or putting it under a mattress forum.
401K plans generally match a portion your contribution. That means each teamster would have to actually save a portion of their six figure yearly pay. Personal responsibility is not in their contract so it does not exist.
Now the contract could shift some of the money, that's already there, from health and welfare to pensions but that would require co-pays and deductibles. More personal responsibility that would force each teamster to save for the future.
The pension funds are broke because the government stopped the embezzlement of funds when Hoffa senior was president of the IBT more than 50 years ago. Or was it deregulation more than 40 years ago. Either way, it's obvious that the taxpayer owes every teamster a pension.
How about this, it makes perfect sense, if teamster funds take the bailout and members draw from those subsidized pensions, they would forfeit Social Security benefits. My pension would go back to $ 42,500 but I would lose $ 30,000 in Social Security benefits. The bailout money would last 100 years and everyone would get a full pension.

Full of generalizations and full of something else..my employer will fully agrees to pay for my healthcare (by the way how much did you pay for your healthcare when you worked? and how is the push for Medicare for All going for the wife?) and when they don't then I will pay for it myself.. the government made the rules so they have some responsibility (you said it yourself that you will collect your socialist pension, so much for your integrity)...deregulation.. ah yes, so how long do you think it would take to show up? when I retire I will have worked for nearly fifty years (not all as a teamster) so it doesn't happen over night to make it to retirement, so these funds are going to take a long time to deplete after deregulation... but you know that I'm sure...and union officials like yourself deserve blame too for not leveling with membership, but hey you had to win the next election, so screw ethics...

I'm going to teach everyone how to be a big hypocrite....this is what I learned from the biggest hypocrite on this thread....it goes like this...I HATE that the government bailed out these funds..you people don't deserve this.....I know you may have given the fund $600,000 or more...but I got mine...you deserve nothing!!!!..with the socialist bailout I will probably end up getting a million....you deserve nothing..... I feel better now, wonder when my next check will come, cause I got to get on TB and preach about personal responsibility....

Instead of posting all of your nonsense for all of us to read, why not just post
"Hey everybody, I'm a hypocrite" and save us all some time. Because, most of the time, that is all I get from your posts and I am pretty sure I am not alone with that thought.

Sounds good to me. Corner several congressional representatives and explain it to them just that way. I would ask that you video record the encounter because I would like to see if they eye role in front of you and wave the smell away as they walk away
