“In September, we successfully implemented phase one of the network optimization in the western United States. Phase one included integrating 89 legacy YRC Freight and Reddaway terminals to operate as a super-regional network. The early results are meeting expectations and customers benefit by having one driver pick up and deliver both regional and long-haul shipments. We remain focused on applying lessons learned from phase one and integrating the rest of the network around the end of the year. We expect the network optimization to lead to improved asset utilization, enhanced network efficiencies, cost savings and to create capacity without the need to add new terminals.

What is a third party liability claim?

" “Operating income improved despite a $19.4 million increase in third-party liability claims expense compared to a year ago, mostly due to unfavorable development of prior-year claims, including the resolution of several of our most significant outstanding claims."

That's legal talk. It means don't expect a profitable new contract.

Near as i can tell, it's if you're in an accident and a passenger in a vehicle you hit files a claim. Not sure if this means vehicle accident or the gnip gnop machine that was sitting on the left side of the trailer with a one foot high pallet of pool Floaties next to it that tipped over when the driver made a left turn. The guy that ordered the machine files a claim and the pool floatie guy files a claim cause he can't get the floaties in time for pool season. In any event, it keeps us in the red when the yellow mgmt. are most comfortable. Once you get into the black area, there be monsters (creditors, labor, overhead) stay out of the black!!!

I'm thinking it might mean third party logistics claims also.
Freight claims on refusals for late and freight damages.

And I'm wondering on if anybody within our system also invests in them companies which file the claims. Money funneled.
Black Rock also is major holder of CH or CR Robinson.
They lose nothing.
Just a transfer sort of.
And they may also own the stuff being shipped.

No loss...yet we worry for our jobs.

When a third party logistic firm such as CH Robinson or freight quote.com books a shipment and Yellow damages it, the customer files the claim with the logistics firm. The logistics firm then files the claim with Yellow. Many times the logistics firm has a limited liability clause especially on high value items with the customer and a disputed claim occurs. Perhaps a high value item was lost. Yellow “lost” a jet engine several years and payed for it. And found it later.

So Black Rock lost a jet engine. And files a claim with Black Rock and the engine made by Black Rock engines gets the money from Yellow...I mean Black Rock?
Sort of.

One claim might have been settling for nearly $7 million a Department of Defense disputeabout overcharges. There also was a payroll deferral allowed by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act.
No it's from running over a kid.

Its door was open and the school bus lights were flashing. The girl was struck by the semi while trying to cross Newman Road to get to the bus
