ODFL | To turn up all trucks to 67.87367 mph

sea makes so much safety sense to turn trucks to 68 when they never leave a 60 mph state,,, all drivers run to the max in them with few who have tickets reckless ,,, sounds safe to me

That is because of tire wear. If you govern a truck at 65 it only runs 65 when tire is new. As tread wears, you go slower.
Cummins engines have been able to account for tire wear for over 25 years now. You program in the tire wear based on the tread life, tire size and type of tire. The computer would adjust the governed speed to account for tread wear. The problem is that different tire brands, composition of the tire compound makes figuring it out more tedious. Because of this, most companies don’t bother with programming this in.
